Character's Full Name: Hitorashi Kanon
Is the character a ninja?: No. She's a vocalist.
Character's Appearance:
Kanon has dark brown hair that falls just below her shoulders. She wears it down with a small ponytail in the center to keep it neat. She has bangs and they span neatly across her head just below the eyebrow. Her eyes are a blue and her skin tone is fair. Her body type is thin.
She can always be seen wearing her locket. The locket contains a picture of her brother, Ryuu. She keeps the locket close to her heart. Before she goes on to perform, she can be seen clutching the locket in her hand. She says that it's for good luck.
Her outfits are vary from day to day, but, due to the fact she often is performing, she can be seen wearing a kimono many times. Her posture in public is quite good. She tries hard to stand straight for long periods of time without slouching. When she's alone, she sometimes gives herself a few minutes to allow her body to relax, but, she would never admit that to anyone.
She likes the way she looks. Maybe a little too much? She's far from humble and when someone compliments her on her looks by saying she's pretty, she occasionally forgets her manners and responds, "I know."
Brief Character History:
"Mother! What's that thing doing here?!"
These were the angry words of a seven-year-old Kanon when a little boy was brought home. The girl had been fine on her own. She took vocal lessons. She played outside. What was *he* doing there?
It was beyond the little child's comprehension that this six-year-old boy was her new brother. Ryuu. He had been the child of a close friend of Kanon's parents. The girl was very confused. First of all, at that time, she thought that if she were to have a sibling, it would come home as a baby. Secondly, she *despised* Ryuu! How was she to accept him into her family?
Little did Kanon know that Ryuu had gone through a tragedy in his life. His mother and father had passed away due to illness. Being that the Hitorashi's had been so close with his family, they had made Kanon's mother and father Ryuu's godmother and godfather. Thus, Ryuu was to live with them. This was stated clearly in their will. From now on, Yoshito Ryuu was to live with the Hitorashi family as their son.
Ryuu was open, but Kanon was far from it. This was her childhood terror. When she had gone over the Yoshito household for "play dates" with Ryuu, he would steal her toys and occasionally break them. The boy made various peace attempts, but, the only treaty that Kanon was willing to make was "this half of the house is yours, this half of the house is mine. Don't go on my half or I'll hurt you." Of course, Kanon didn't have any intention of hurting Ryuu. She didn't even have the strength to hurt him, really. She had always been quite fragile. Quite weak and helpless. She would easily get lightheaded and faint. Ryuu knew this too, yet, didn't want to get on his "sister's" nerves. He wanted more than anything to make peace.
Peace was achieved two years later when Kanon was nine and Ryuu was eight. Kanon had been practicing her vocals outside her house. Ryuu happened to walk by at the right moment to hear her. He said she sang nicely, thus, got on the egotistic girl's good side.
By the time Kanon was fifteen and Ryuu fourteen, the two were inseparable. Kanon thought she finally liked Ryuu as much as she ever would. Ryuu, while out and about, had made friends with a boy who's family was in the street performance career track. Ironically, they happened to be looking for a new vocalist. After talking to his new friend, Ryuu was able to schedule Kanon for an audition. Kanon now knew that she had the absolute best brother in the world.
At the audition, Kanon sang one of her favorite songs. The room was large and the only ones there were the fifteen-year-old girl and one of the other vocalists of the decently well-known performance troupes who was to audition her. Before she was about to sing, Ryuu handed her a silver locket. Inside contained a picture of himself. He told her it was for good luck. Her nerves somehow vanished as she walked over to the table where the vocalist sat, clutching her new locket.
Her career was history from that point on. Of course, being with traveling performers would mean, well, traveling. This would mean leaving her family behind--including Ryuu. She was rather upset by this, yet, when she seemed like she might even consider not going, Ryuu set her straight, once again giving her the confidence she needed.
It has been quite a few years since Kanon has last seen Ryuu in person. She remembers him through her locket and the songs that she sings. She knows that somewhere, there's a boy one year younger than herself that probably keeps up with everything the group has done. She knows that she has a "number one fan." As long as she will live, Kanon knows that somewhere out there, Ryuu's living his life, still thinking of her. Whenever it crosses her mind that he's forgotten her, all she has to do is look at her locket to snap herself out of it.
Character's Personality:
Kanon is egotistic. She likes everything about herself. Unlike some vocalists, she will listen to her own work and find it absolutely perfect. She loves signing autographs. She also loves her fans, unless they're hassling. Then, she hates them. Her opinion on a person relies mostly on whether or not they bother her.
One of her favorite things to do after a performance is to eat dango and drink tea with a friend or so. She loves going to hot springs to relax and enjoys anything that is supposed to be relaxing.
She knows nothing about self-defense. She's rather frail, yet, her usually head-strong attitude doesn't show it. Often, she is accompanied by another troupe member, yet, she often finds ways to sneak away. Occasionally, the group lets her go without a guard, because they know that their efforts are in vain in the end.
She likes cats, yet, she has never been able to keep a pet because she travels from place to place. She thinks that if she were to keep a pet at the performance troupe's "base" in {insert village name here}, it would be a waste. The animal would never get used to her and she would never grow a bond to it, thus, the entire pet concept is lost.

Role-Play Example:
Rain fell gently from the sky like tears for all the souls that rested there. Although she hated water, especially rain, she figured that she wouldn't be able to live with herself if she didn't go. Her swords on her back and a couple red roses gathered in her arms, she walked forward in the gently pouring rain. Her tail lay hanging down, slick from the water, her silvery-white hair clinging to her colorless cheeks.
Today was the anniversary of her parents' assassination. She walked solemnly to the area of the graveyard where the name "Misarashi" could be found. She finally saw the two places she wished to visit. First, she laid a single rose down in the spot where the bodies of the grandparents she had never known lay. She bowed respectfully, then left. She had no emotional ties to them that bound her to the place. All she had with her grandparents were the stories told by her parents, who had been killed themselves. Though, her grandparents had died a more peaceful death--both caused by old age. She now turned, coming face-to-face with the place where her parents lay. She knelt down in respect.
"Hai..." she said weakly, her crimson eyes leaking tears. "I suppose you would want to know how I'm doing... I've been excelling in my sword practice...though...I suppose that doesn't matter... I've kept the house neat and orderly like you asked, mother... I've tried to keep my composure, father, but I'm still not good at that... Aurora's still here--my only friend. She stayed home because of all the rain, but she wanted to come, believe me... It's kind of hard living alone, but I'm actually begining to get used to it... The clan blade is very strong. I'll be on a team soon, too... But...you never approved of that..." She dried her tears, though her face remained moist from the rain. She fell into a deep bow, then placed two red roses on the site.
She finally stood, a sorrowful pain tugging on her heart. One rose remained, yet, she had visited both places she found herself obligated to visit and show her respect at. She picked herself up from off the ground. There she stood--soaking wet and clenching the final rose in her right hand. She pulled one of the petals off. The silky smooth texture was quite nice on her hand. She let the petal escape her hand, however, as not to keep it captive.
Why did they have to leave her alone? She cared for herself, budgeted the money, prepared meals--all since the young age of thirteen! It seemed so long ago, yet, at the same time, it felt like it just occurred. The bloodstained floor board in the basement sat in her home, reminding her daily of the incident. They were gone. Like the rest of her known family. Dead. Never to be seen again.
The orphaned girl had long ago vowed to never go to a foster home or any type of thing like that. She had a family at one point, and no one could replace that. No one could replace them. Plus, what parent would want to adopt a teenage cat girl and her cat? No...too much trouble. Trouble, heartbreak, and unbearable drama. That was all that that would be.
Letting out a soggy cough, she finally remembered how much she really hated the rain. It fell from the sky, cool water droplets, drenching everything in it's path. She let out a sigh, nearly frozen by the water. *I'm going to end up ill...* she thought matter-of-factly. *I wish Aurora was here...* She hated being away from her beloved feline, yet, it would have been decently unsafe for the cat to go out today. The rain would be uncomfortable and unnatural and she might have gotten herself sick. Katanai would have much preferred herself sick than her cat.
She wanted to go home, yet, she couldn't gather herself. It was as if she had dropped herself,, shards of her mind falling everywhere. Now, she had to collect her mind shards. She stood there, breathing deeply. She closed her eyes. The darkness was calming and, surprisingly, so was the sound of the rain. Her eyes still closed, she squeezed the water out of her hair and tail. Standing still once more, she tried to focus on her personality. She needed to gather her loose pieces of mind back together.
1. If your character were sent on a mission with the old Team 7 (Kakashi, Sasuke, Naruto, Sakura), who would he/she be most likely to get along best with? How about least? In both cases, please motivate. Kanon would most likely get along best with Sakura because she would be most likely to appreciate her profession. She would be least likely to get along with Naruto, because he has lack of appreciation. That, and he's annoying.
2. Which of the three Sannin would your character choose to train with, if given the chance? Why? Kanon would probably choose Jiraiya because he seems the most easy-going.
3. Assume your character was a Konoha nin (therefore supposedly loyal to his/her village). He/she knows all about Sasuke's departure AND the reasons behind it. What would he/she think about that? Does the purpose excuse the means? She would think that Sasuke was being pretty stupid for betraying the villiage like that. She wouldn't really care much, though.
4. Would your character die for his/her village? If yes, is it because she cares about the village or is it just because it's a shinobi's duty? If not, is it because he/she disagrees with the village's cause or is it because your character would only be looking out for his/her own good? No. She wouldn't. She's hardly ever home because she's out touring. Why would she die for a place she's never there to see?
5. If given the choice, would your character rather save a companion in need or finish the mission they had? She would never be *on* a mission in the first place, but, when given the choice, she'd save her friend, of course.
6. Would your character kill somebody just to prove his/her worth to someone else? No. Never. She would find that very pointless. Why kill someone over it?

Kanon hates those who are loud and hasteling. She dislikes those that are trouble to her and will get on her case about things.
8. How much self-esteem does your character have? Kanon has a lot of self-esteem.
9. Does your character talk to the opponent in battle? Why? ...Battle? Is that like a sing-off? If so, NO! How can you talk and sing at the same time?
Is the character a ninja?: No. She's a vocalist.
