Character's Full Name:黒沢 隼人 (Kurosawa Hayato)
Is the character a ninja?Of course.
Character's Appearance: Hayato probably had his last growth spurt just a short time ago, so right now he is about 6'0'' (182cm) tall, fixing his height a bit above the average. Just because he has the image of a glasses guy, doesn't mean, that he does have a "pencil" build. He weights about 175lbs (80kg) and has a athletic build, due to his shinobi training. His skin color is more pale than tan, because, even if is at a summer vacation in wave country he rarely dress in shorter "summer clothes."
Hayato looks a bit older than he really his, and he's kinda glad for that. His face has lost his boyish-features a while ago. He made his choice of glasses so, that it even furthers the impression he gives to people. Unlike his time in the academy, were he wore very geekish and grandpa-ish looking round glasses with a thick frame. It made him look somewhat funny, and the impression he gave back than wasn't something which people took serious. So it's no wonder he used his first savings as a child to buy himself some regular looking glasses, with a thinner, less attention-grabbing frame. Nowadays he wears rectangle shaped, stainless-steel-frame glasses, which only accentuate his features. To fully complete the serious look he keeps his dark-grey hair at medium length and well in shape. He only takes his glasses off to clean them, for sleeping, or sometimes in conversations as a gesture. It gives him a sliglty playful, but sometimes even more so mean, touch. Which is usually followed by a glare and a gesture he uses to intimidate. Although he would prefere if he looked more evil that way, he looks somewhat more open and off guard if he just walks around without them, without doing or better saying something before.
As for his choice of clothes when he doesn't wear the standard shinobi gear – think mesh shirt, jaket, trousers and sandals - (he always does that, when he is on a mission or has to attend meetings with important superiors or clients) is pretty peculiar: He likes to dress in suits.
He wears dark coloured trousers and boots. His shirt is always a plain button-up one, either white or another simple, non-outstanding-color. When it's cold he wears a dark grey or blue jacket and in winter a brown fur-brimmed coat on top of that. A fitting necktie - either blue, red or black - and his set of glasses and sometimes a cigarette in his mouth completes the look. Then he looks more like a business man than a Shinobi. If he works undercover/in civil he even likes to use that as an identity.
His forehead protector is bound on either his right or left arm, depending on his mood.
Seiyuu: Morikawa Toshiyuki
Character History: Hayato comes from a pretty normal family. His mother, her family, as well as her friends were all civilian. While his father and his side of the family were all Shinobi. Together they had a daughter 2,5 years older than Hayato. They lived more or less happily together until his father died when he was a four-year-old. Too young to really comprehend back then, and now too old to really care, this only had a minor impact on his upbringing. Although it did change the view of his closer relatives to the shinobi job. His mother, who had always tolerated the shinobi work of his father before, had a quick change of mind. Since then she tried to stay away from anything shinobi related. Even Hayato's grandparents. His older sister, who had a little closer connection with her father, was very sad and from then on became a compassionate older sister, as well as cancelled her idea of becoming a Shinobi. Hayato though formed a close bond to his grandparents, instead of his sister or mother. He did spend much time with them, listening to their stories or even playing with them, since they still kept themselves somewhat in shape (Hey, even Chiyo could move around if she wanted XD). His older sister, who still liked her grandparents very much, since they lived close still did, also often joined into that playing. He spent that way most of his childhood. It was all in all a pretty normal family life. The only thing that worsened over the years, was his relationship to his mother.
It all began, when he decided to join the Ninja Academy. His mother was very reluctant to even let him join. His reason for joining were simple: Because at that age, he admired the Shinobi, which he always saw and heard about from his grandparents. So he whished to be as "awesome" as them. Which was of course a delusion of his childhood self, which didn't know any better. For a small boy pretty much any ninja, regardless of rank, can make that impression. It would take him some time, but eventually he realized, that being a ninja was way more than what he thought at first. In the end – and with the help of his grandparents - he was allowed to join the Academy. Although under the condition, that he was only allowed to continue, if he did above average.
This was quite a problem for young Hayato. As he was neither in the genius, nor the dropout section, and was right in the middle. Which of course didn't fulfil the '
above average' condition. But Hayato was at least a clever kid. Since he weren't an outstanding genius, he decided that he had to make himself into someone more outstanding. Thus he chose the road of a bankaku. (bankaku is an japanese term in school-life for those students, who often take it upon themselves to lead in activities or to step in and correct a seen problem. Because in japanese schools students are well organized and disciplined by their peers, it is common for such students to exist and often be in positions of leadership. Though if they are in an official position, this term isn't used, as it is an unofficial term. The official and older term is used for officers who lead from the front of their squad or battalion headlong into battle. I really liked that term and I think it fits him o.o).
Although he got laughed at for being so straight-forward at first and got even misused by some of his co-students, he still managed to leave an impression of a reliable guy. He also managed to make some friends in time. With the glasses he wore at his last year of Acedemy, he even left his teachers with the impression, that he could be a reliable shinobiand maybe some kind of academy teacher. As even his sister wanted to become a teacher lately, many told him to purchase that path and have stable life as an Academy Instructor. Hayato though didn't want, too. He meekly replied, that he wasn't good at teaching people stuff, so he rejected politely, when he even got a special training program offer. As he left the academy he was an above-average Shinobi, with solid basis in all three jutsu groups (nin-tai-gen), broad theoretic knowledge and good self (as well as chakra-) control.
He had no outstanding jutsu passed down from a clan, no kekkei genkai and his swordmanship was only a bit above average, so he was placed into a three man cell as the middle-guy, who was flexible to support either teammate. Although he wasn't rumored as the #1 Rookie, but rather the reliable glasses guy. Hayato was fine with that.
But soon after fitting into his new environment, his teammates and sensei realized that he was quite different from the impression they've got from the Academy. The guy nicknamed "megane" (only in his last year though) or "class-rep" (even though there weren't such things), could evenbe somewhat hot-headed if he wanted to. He was always dissatisfied not only with his own, but others progress as well. As soon as the team got closer and their true colours began to show, his „straightforward+polite“ attitude changed into an „straightforward+cynical“ attitude. The others, who knew him a bit from before, only said, that he was just getting into "that age". They said, that he just got a little more serious or mature, which was fine.
What they knew for sure was, that he became more prideful. And even though he got an arrogant touch, he was a very hard worker, even harder than before. Some of his old "friends" said he became distant, but also somewhat admirable. The civilians liked that appeal, as the boy was getting even more serious and not just playing Ninja. The first source of conflict though was, again, his mother. Who certainly didn't like what he did. Especially when she found out, that he started smoking and making other alterations to his style and mannerism. His older sister still supported him, while his grandparents still went with their "he can do whatever he wants to, as long as he's serious". What they didn't realize was that Hayato choose to act different, for the sake of changing the impression he gave off. What started as a way, to justify his staying at the academy, became something much deeper. It was just the start, when people who knew him began to realize, that he must had undergone some sort of change. Especially senpai and superiors noticed, that he was (or at least acted) a little bit, too mature for his age, since none of his teammates were as down-to-earth, focussed and hard-working.
For his new teammates, who didn't quite knew him from before, this wasn't a major issue. They quickly got used to each other and took advantage of their relationship with him. Camaraderie played an important role for him at that time. He realized, that the trust and other things it brought, were very important things for a Shinobi, be it on duty or in life. He got along well with his sensei, who wasn't exactly the most social person. But even his sensei became a bit more open with Hayato and his teammates later on. How much it was due to Hayato's, his mates or their sensei's work, remains unknown though.
Hayato himself became also known as a prominent user of the Kuchiyose no Jutsu, which would become his signature technique. He used it whenever necessary, and even when it was not, as long as he could get away with it. The rumour that he let others fight, because he himself was weak, still hold on for a while. If he was confronted with the question, if he was weak or not, he always answered with: “Everyone has their own strenghs...“ Though only a few got to witness some of Hayato's not so open strenghs. Those who did never dared to mention that topic again and will only comment about that with “Hayato is very strong in his own way“.
Although everything went well with his team, they were quite late in getting their Chuunin Exam - due to some trouble they caused. They actually did very well on their first try, though. He and his team managed to impress (and annoy) most examines enough, to leave a deep impression. He was on the 'to be promoted'-liston his first exam. Although he lacked strength, his leadership and controlling abilities where outstanding for a mere 'rookie'. Much to the annoyance of some of his comrades. A person, whom even he himself regarded as much stronger than he was, as well as the reason, that he made it that far. As luck did play a role, too, he decided, no demanded, that it was either both getting a promotion or none of them...
So on their next try, in their second chunin exam, all three finally got a promotion. He still hangs out with his team from time to time, although one of his teammates has been promoted to Jounin recently.
After he got promoted to Chunin and got a new wage, he quickly searched a new place to live for himself. When his sister moved out, he ultimately tagged along and tried to make a living with his money and what she earned from her job. It went well at first, especially since their mother didn't bother him that much - although she came over more often than necessary. But after his sister got a new job offer a few towns away, he decided to have a shared living with a senpai from work. He still lives there, and at the moment doesn't want to make it any different.
As a Chunin, he had a little bit of trouble with some of his new comrades. Especially the female kind, who couldn't deal with his personality. The female gender in general, was always a source of frustration and annoyance (especially when he was just a 11 year old graduate). What changed over time was the way he dealt with it. The annoyance also shifted from the female gender in general, to a few selected exemplars (and to some males). If he clashes with one now, it's only on the surface with no deep meaning - at least for him. His roomate and associates think, that right now he does it mostly for fun, and some even think it's his way of flirting. Although he gives an annoyed reply to that, in reality it amuses him greatly, that people try to explain the person „Hayato“, since his work of getting into peoples head's apparently worked out fine.
Character's Personality:Kurosawa Hayato is all about keeping up his image of a bankaku: The relieable and serious superior (or adjutant of superiors). He has played that role for quite some time, and it comes to him naturally. Although you shouldn't mix up his type with cool-and-silent-lone-wolf-type. It's true, that he gives off the "don't talk to me / go away" feeling. But that's because most people annoy him and/or only come to talk with him, to annoy him. Though that is just his perspective. Most of the times he grudgingly accepts it, since he chose the role of a reliable guy, who can help you if you are in trouble, after all. If it isn't for trivial things or just because he's "the only one who can help", he'll give advice and help you out of his own accord. He hates it though, if people think he's a nice guy, if he shows his generous side, because that only draw more trouble and problems to him. Though some people think he enjoys that secretly, as he get's to meddle with other people's business. He dislikes people though, who think he's just a Tsundere – even though that might be really true.
He actually likes to give his advice, or better he likes to just give his two cents to anything. Although some comments are kept in his head, he sometimes can't refrain from snipping a comment or doing a tsukkomi. It's one reason, why still some people are unsure of what to think of him. After all, he can be a real asshole, if he wants to. And worse, he looks like he finds great pleasure in doing so. So people wonder if he's genuinely nice sometimes, or if that is just a farcé. But if he doesn't like you or your behavior, he will tell you that one way or the other. Mostly, he does it in a polite ambigous way, so that he'll make you think about it and leave you unsure, if he was serious or not. But people who know him better, also know that he is serious most of the time. So you'll have to take what he says for real, even though he appears to be joking. Another point which greatly pisses of some female comrades, who dislike ambiguity. He can be brutally honest, too, either in snipping a comment, or if you really bother him (or worse: you piss him off, by just being yourself), he'll usually try to corner you and then make really mean/funny (only for him or maybe bystanders) jabs. Talking back will only make him focus more on you. But if you ignore him or don't let yourself be drawn into things, he leaves it at a comment and a self satisfied smile (another "good deed" for that day for him).
If you know of his "Image" thing, and are unsure if he does and particulary says something because of himself or his image, there are some hints to find that out! Although it took a while to find that out, even for people very close to him. A clear sign for image is, if he sits somewhat upright and watches you closely, while leaning on one or both hands, with his elbow on the table (or something familiar), sometimes pushing his glasses upwards. Although people aren't sure if he does it on purpose, it certainly seems to be effective. His way of dressing, talking and posture always seems to underline that seriousness. So even if you know it's somewhat of an image, it worked good so far, as at least he even get's treated seriously and sometimes with respect, by some seniors or superiors. Which is probably the reason why he adapted to sticking to that behavior. Only with smalltalk you don't have to be afraid of ulterior motives - much. There are some cases, where he takes out a cigarette and puts up his legs and does trivial things like cleaning his glasses. Then you can assume that he's in a relaxed state, and a bit easier to deal with. He may even offer you a cigarette. If that's the case, you can be sure that he tries to be nice to you.
Now, nobody knows the 'real' him any more. Which is only normal, since he didn't have any real outstanding feature before. As his image is more of a realist who tends to be optimistic and maybe even caring (in the way of a superoir), the real him is quite cynical and more reserved... some even would say pessimistic, though that is not true. The persons to actually and clearly get to see the reservered and maybe even melancholic side of him, are counted on one hand though. Over the years the 'Outer' Hayato turned more and more into the 'Inner' Hayato. The lines between image and real person have long since been crossed, so that it's impossible for Hayato to stop or change himself again, as the 'Inner' Hayato has grown and merged into the 'Outer' Hayato.
Ever since a certain age Hayato als has gotten more and more self-confident and proud. Combined with his personality and image, it's no wonder some people think, he is very arrogant - which is sadly the truth, even if he can play it down. Which bring us to his second fault: Though he cares (much) about people, even those he dislikes or who annoy him, he also has a strong urge to get into other people's business. He likes to "set them straight". For example by completely and utterly crushing them "for their own sake". After all, if they couldn't change "for the better", he had to take the problem and destroy it by the roots. Then they would stand up stronger, by overcoming and reforming themselves. But in reality it doesn't always go that easily. As the example which happened to be true for Hayato at one time, doesn't apply to everyone and then only to some extents.
But he only does that, because he tends to forget, that not everyone is like him. A fact he still hasn't gotten over. Although he got better in understanding people, he still doesn't understand their "warped" (from his pov) reasoning. And being the good guy that he is, he wants to help them. The bad thing is - next to no one see's it that way, even though it is the truth. Altruism just doesn't seem to fit the image Hayato made up. Maybe when he gets older, then he'll eventually will accept other people being themselves, but until then he will continue to mess with them.
The cause for this sometime undefinable anger or annoyment, is because the thing he hates the most is weakness. In himself and even in others. It always reminds him of his „past weak self" - although Hayato is exaggerating here, when mentions that. As it is in no relation compareable to other peoples problems. Though you can't deny the pure motive. He tends to correct others, even though that would be to his disadvantage. Ranking from silly things like giving up the advantage in games or training to lead his rival on the optimal path, to important issues of life. Few people, except maybe his old teammates or sensei know of why he is that "difficult". But few people get that deep into his mind, as doing that isn't worth the effort. It's not that they don't trust/dislike him... it's that they will most likely have to bare themselves in front of him to get to him, which is what they're afraid of (and who could blame them).
So, to get into Hayato's head takes up too much effort. Besides it is way more fun to stick to and add to the already spreading rumors and assumption – especially for Hayato. Even if he may appear amused, annoyed or pissed off, it's not that he does anything against it – on the contrary he even adds to the rumors, just for fun. He is always glad, if he stays in the back of the head of people. He is well known within his comrades. Most have seen him once or at least heard of his name. They may badmouth him from time to time, but even then it ends with "Mah... even though, he get's the job done well." or "But you can't argue with the way he works". Those who like him, may confess that they "don't want anyone else to watch out for them". But they would never say it openly and especially not in front of him.
Although they did it alot at the start, the staff of the academy doesn't try to convince Hayato to take the job-offer of a full-time academy teacher anymore. His results at the Chunin exam and his new seriousness and effort really impressed them, so the old "he could be a full-time..." turned into an "he should be a full-time...". Hayato didn't know back then, if he really was cut out to be a teacher, but he still did want to try, so he at least agreed to the part-time teaching missions:
For the teaching staff it was nearly a complete disaster. Although he got ALL of the students at the place where he taught or assisted to learn his name and get an opinion of him, it wasn't really all that good. Concepts that worked on comrades, didn't really work well with kids. In theoretic and tactical subjects he quickly got fed up with their stupidity, ending in an outburst where he declared all the people in the class as failures. Combat intstructing was the only thing where he had less problems, as he was able to use his real life experiences and gave out a few tips only a person, who was NOT exceptional in close combat could. But the sheer amount of student made him quickly resent from it, as it was too troublesome teaching all of them equally. And Hayato was a perfectionist, who wouldn't accept superficial training. By the end of the part time period most of the guys just hated him, as he was "stuck-up", "stingy" and "too serious". Girls never came to him for trouble, because most thought he was at least "mean" or downright "frightening". There were also some weird girls who found him "cool". But in the end both types slowed down in their learning process. Not to mention one whole class had somewhat of a trauma as he told them they were all going to die horrible deaths, if they keep up like that and he wouldn't even lift a finger to help them that time and probably be glad they died (see the outburst). After that little part-time period, the staff is still reluctant to even let him enter for visits or errands. They told him he should acquire more patience and experience to be able to become a even a three-man-cell sensei. Even now they hope he would take a few years to become a jounin instructor, as they feared that either no one could keep up with his standarts, or that he'll raise his personal, brain-washed&soulless elite unit.
Most adjectives people would spontanously add to Hayato would be "serious", "arrogant", "fiendish", "reliable", "insensitive", "megalomaniac", "egocentric", "got-a-nice-ass-though", "rude", "glasses", "smoker", "arrogant", "definately-plotting-something-behind-our-backs", "misunderstood" and lastly "okay". To which Hayato would most likely reply "Oi, some of them aren't even adjectives!" At least this is an assumpted answers, as this wasn't exactly an official survey.

Jutsu Name: Kirigakure Jaen Ryû Satsukenjutsu
Rank: C/B
Element: -none-
Type: taijutsu
Description:This style of swordmanshit is just one of many style's you can learn in Kirigakure. It's taught in a small dojo somewhere in the outskirts of the town. It doesn't focus on one particular type of sword, like the huge swords of the Shinobi-Gatana or the classical japanese style swords. It generally teaches the use of bladed weapons (from knives and swords, to spears and others). Though there are no outstanding techniques, it does very well in teaching ways to quickly and silently kill an opponent in an efficient way, without too much wasteful movements. It's simple, but it fits Hayato's personal style.Kekkei Genkai:None.
Role-Play Example:Should be somewhere in the forum already XD
