Character's Full Name: Natsume Hisao.
Is the character a ninja? Yes.
Character's Appearance: Gender: Male. Height: 5'8" (173 centimeters). Weight: 128 lbs (58 kilograms). Skin Tone: Average/healthy. Eye Color: Green. Hair Color/Style: Light-brown, short-cropped and always combed neatly. Clothing Style: Hisao wears simple clothes, just his size, preferring dark blue and black, and occasionally pastels as far as the color spectrum goes. Of course, he adjusts to the weather. Short sleeves and shorts if it's hot outside, and long-sleeved tops, trousers and even jackets if it's rather chilly. Since the shinobi uniform is not mandatory for a regular and rather low rank like his, he opts out of wearing it on any occasion, perhaps excepting when he's sent on potentially dangerous missions outside the village, which has a low chance of happening. However, no matter what outfit he wears, a white armband with a red stripe, worn on his left arm, identifies him as a medic-nin in training. He is allowed to take it off when not on duty, but he most often chooses not to. Habits: Hisao has very few particular habits in his movement. A certain gentleness is characteristic of him when touching objects, especially if they don't belong to him, and one may notice that he is very reluctant to make contact with other people if it's not absolutely necessary. He always slightly hesitates before touching them, even for as much as a handshake. Other than that, he seems very calm and keeps still a lot. He may tuck his hair out of the way if needed or flinch slightly if something suddenly draws his attention, but only within the normal limits for any human.
Brief Character History: The first few years of Hisao's life were, as far as he can remember, quite pleasant. His memory still holds on tight to those images, feelings, words - to every precious fragment. Most people don't remember much that far back into their childhood, and although not a complete exception to that rule, Hisao recalls more from back then than the average person would. It's not because he has some special sort of memory, not because he was any kind of child prodigy. He simply clings to those times more than others do, because he has a reason to do so. Those times were perhaps the best times of his life, when there was no one else's shadow looming over him, and getting the most out of things he could do many times better.
Hisao's mother, Nami, had always wanted a girl. She tried her best not to show her disappointment when she was presented with her newborn boy, and she did her best to give her son all the love that he deserved. However, discontent was still there, in that part of one's mind nobody can fight or control: the subconscious. Slowly, she grew weary of pretending there were no such things as moments of regret. Not to exaggerate, however; she loved her child, of course. Most of the time, she was quite happy with him. But humans work that way, so when their wishes are not granted, they can't help but still crave what they couldn't obtain, to the detriment of what they already have. It is, as they say, easier to see something that's off limits than something near you. And so, her secret wish for a female child remained. She would sometimes confess to her husband, and Ryoichi, seeing his wife miserable, couldn't help but wish for her happiness, as well.
When Hisao was seven years old, that one thing his family needed to be complete was born at last: a girl. They named her Natsuko, both because she had been born in summer and because she brought warmth and sunny days into their household. For a while, everyone was happy. Even Hisao, sensing that his parents loved his sister very much, and since they were his role models at that time, pampered her and took care of her to the best of his ability. But a small child always demands more attention than an older child even in normal circumstances, and the fact that a seven-year-old can be quite perceptive didn't help. Slowly, Hisao began to feel that his presence in the family was not as appreciated as his sister's. Like any child would, he drew the conclusion that it was somehow his fault, and that his parents expected him to do something to gain their love back. It was now he who didn't notice what he had -- that they still loved him, too -- and focused on what he thought he should have instead. He began to isolate himself from his sister, trying to associate with her as little as possible, and to be acknowledged on his own, as Hisao, and not as her brother. He kept looking for things he could do that she couldn't, like helping his parents around the house or shopping for groceries in his mother's stead. But it didn't seem enough, and he didn't realize nothing ever would. So when he was enrolled into the shinobi academy in his village, he saw this as the perfect opportunity to achieve his single-minded goal once and for all.
As shinobi, all parents would like their children to achieve the best results in their classes, and to grow into strong adults, willing to adhere to the values and code of the village. Although his childish mind from back then couldn't define it in such terms, Hisao still understood, by intuition, that he could please his parents, by obtaining great results at the academy. And indeed, it worked, at first. He would come home with the best grades, and with praise from his teachers. His parents praised him in the beginning, proud of his achievements. But that only lasted for a while. Things that happen constantly tend to grow into routine, and Ryoichi and Nami never realized that for their son, his accomplishments were anything but normal events in his life. In time, they started to acknowledge his hard work less and less, until he grew discouraged and stopped giving his best. From then on, he paid less and less attention to his work, and his parents never did more than scold him a little, when his teachers pointed it out.
On the other hand, Hisao always felt the need to surround himself with friends, because they were the closest thing to a loving family that he could get. He was never completely happy, no matter how large his group became, but while he was still a child, he never realized why, and just kept trying harder, thinking that making more and better friends would fix it. Eventually, however, he grew into a spiteful teenager, who only craved everyone's love and never felt like he owed them any in return. He resolved, in his immaturity, not to care about his parents anymore, since they didn't really love him that much. More than that, he felt that having been through such an experience gave him the right to put his many friends through the same thing and have them compete with each other for his attention. Understandably, such a state of things couldn't last for long, and Hisao's case was no exception. He lost almost all of his friends even quicker than he had gained them, as one by one they found better company. Once again, he was alone.
That was actually a maturing experience for Hisao, though of course, his mindset would become anything but normal. After being angry for a while, and channeling hate towards his former friends, he figured out that such tactics would never work, and he began to settle for less. So he took the opportunity of his academy graduation to withdraw from everyone. Instead of what he did before, he now tried his best to avoid people, becoming a loner, and doing his best to seem nice and selfless whenever he did have contact with someone. If he couldn't win over his sister in front of their parents, he could at least be praised for taking care of her. His need for attention remained, but in addition to that, he now also felt that he didn't really deserve it, so he stopped going out of his way to get it. And so he did his best to hide his clingy side, the one that wanted nothing more than to be appreciated and to have someone notice him, and he became the person he is today, helpful and apparently a guy who likes being by himself. But if you knew him, you'd realize the true nature of his submissiveness and of his willingness to please.
Character's Personality: Is it cruel to lay your expectations upon someone even before that person's birth? Is it fair? Is it normal? Does it allow that newborn to grow into an adult with a life of his own?
Even if he never asks himself such things, Hisao has always unknowingly lived his life under the burden of those questions, and that of the external influences they arose from. At various points of his life, he may have been influenced in different fashions, but always by the same thing: by the fact that he had a little sister who was preferred in the family, and by the fact that he had been born as something his parents hadn't really wanted. That was the mark of his existence, causing him, in time, to think that he was superfluous. While a young Hisao may have fought for his place in the world and for what he believed he deserved, present Hisao is dominated by a sense of inferiority and worthlessness that underlies his every action or intention.
Practically, this boy feels guilty for being alive, although he may not realize it. This manifests through exaggerated reactions to acts of kindness towards him, and he is likely to be overbearingly grateful for as much as someone picking up an object he dropped and handing it back to him. He would repay any favor done to him tenfold, and yet that still wouldn't seem enough to him. He would still feel indebted. In reverse from this situation, being insulted or harmed or picked on in any manner triggers little to no opposition from Hisao. Feeling that he does not deserve to exist, the boy finds it natural that other people would treat him like that.
One might wonder why Hisao doesn't have suicidal tendencies, if he really thinks that way. But there is a very simple answer: he did not create his own existence, and thus he believes he shouldn't be the one to erase it, either. Instead, he chooses to hand it over completely and unconditionally to other people, to those who do have a place in the world. If anyone decided to kill him one day, Hisao would likely be glad to accept that and would do nothing to defend himself, the same way he wouldn't if he were attacked. Unless, maybe, a third party interfered. It's difficult to say what things will take priority over others in Hisao's mind, since it obviously does not function the same way as that of a normal, balanced individual. That's why it is not excluded that he would prioritize defending himself from an attack if, though that, he could fulfill the wish of someone more important to him than the person attacking him.
However, the above doesn't necessarily mean this is what people he interacts with will automatically see in Hisao. That is only the core of his being, what really lies beyond his actual, daily behavior. He does not confide in people, and he does not show those thoughts and impressions, under normal circumstances. He would likely only reveal what he thinks of himself under a lot of pressure and stress.
Normal Hisao, though, is just the silent boy with a kind smile, particularly shy around girls, always ready to help and never causing any trouble. He may seem even rather cheerful or at peace with himself, under normal circumstances. He likes children and small animals, sweet foods, windy weather, and reading books. You've never seen him dislike anything or anyone, and you've never heard him speak rudely. Of course, unless you're one of his former friends at the academy, in which case you probably think he's got issues and you'd like nothing else than to never have contact with him again. But, normally, people he comes into contact with might never come to even suspect what the real Hisao is like.
Character's Starting Age: 17.
Character's Chakra Type: Suiton. Character's Starting Abilities: Genin Slot I. [Canon] Kawarimi no Jutsu. Kawarimi no Jutsu is a basic Ninjutsu technique. When in danger the ninja will quickly substitute themself with another nearby object. This can be a block of wood or even another person. This allows the ninja to quickly flee and hide while the original object takes the brunt of their opponents attack.
Genin Slot II. [Canon] Shunshin no Jutsu. Shunshin no Jutsu is a basic Ninjutsu technique. The ninja will appear and disappear in an instant, allowing them to retreat or attack suddenly. To facilitate the movement the ninja will often use nearby elements such as mist, sand or leaves to mask their appearance or disappearance.
Genin Slot III. [Canon] Kai. Kai is the most basic Genjutsu-dispelling technique. It concentrates chakra to the head, thus breaking the illusion. However, the user must first know they are in an illusion. The technique does not work on very complex Genjutsu.
Genin Slot IV. [Custom] Bakuro no Jutsu. This technique allows the user to focus chakra and spread it into the air around them, in a limited radius. The chakra will form itself into a red-colored, slightly glowing outline around any living things detected within said radius, thus revealing any potential hidden opponents.
Genin Slot V. [Custom] Daishizen no Kyouryoku. By use of this technique, the shinobi can transfer their chakra into the plants nearby, causing them to grow slightly and twist around opponents, entangling them and trying to immobilize them. Depending on the amount of chakra used, this may affect grass, weeds, branches and bushes, or even cause the roots of trees to surface sometimes.
Chuunin Slot I. [Custom] Misei Saisei no Jutsu. This is a very basic healing technique. Chakra can be focused at the site of minor injuries, such as scratches, bruises, cuts or wounds that have not gone past muscular tissue, speeding the body's natural regeneration process to a matter of seconds or minutes, depending on the injury's depth and size. The technique will be hardly of use on wounds that have passed through the muscle and reached the bone or organs. It can even make them worse by closing the wound on the surface while the inside is still not healed.
Chuunin Slot II. [Custom] Gedokuzai no Jutsu. This is an anti-poison medical technique which consists of inserting the user's chakra into the afflicted person's body, and manipulating it into becoming the antidote for the respective poison. Obviously, for it to work, the user must be aware of what poison was used and of what substances act as the antidote for it.
Chuunin Slot III. [Custom] Kuukiseijouki no Jutsu. This is a technique the shinobi may utilize to spread an amount of their chakra into the air in a limited area around them. The air in that area will be cleaned and purged of any substances that could be harmful to humans, such as gas or poison. The chakra can also be decomposed into oxygen if there isn't enough for the user to breathe.
Kekkei Genkai: No. Role-Play Example: It felt as though the little amount of friendship vaguely rekindled between them during the previous conversation had just broken again. It was like a vase stuck back together clumsily with glue - the tiniest impact and it crumbled into pieces even smaller than the ones before. He hadn't been able to help but notice the instant smile that flourished on her perfect lips when he had brought up that guy. She remembered not to show her happiness, though. He noticed that, too. Good thing she still had enough consideration to realize he existed, as well. The only thing Sato could feel right now was hate, a quiet hate that, although directed to that other male far away, in another city at the moment, refracted onto the woman before him as well, the same woman he had felt an almost uncontrollable desire to kiss just earlier. That thought sickened him now.
He became aware that he was biting down on his lip and staring at her, so he stopped both, faking a yawn and turning to look out the window. The last thing he'd want was to once again see her on the verge of crying those tears from earlier. If he thought now, they would have probably been crocodile tears, anyway, so it was good that he'd had the inspiration to stop her on time. Sato chose to ignore her words of thanks, as well, but he soon became restless as there was nothing more he could say. The weather outside wasn't helping him, all gray clouds and no ray of sun at all.
"Anyway, that's what he said, so..."
Sato was proud of himself, seeming so calm when he spoke and sounding so indifferent. He imagined himself giving off that air of a person who had business to take care of and couldn't linger around anymore. He had done her a huge favor, after all, so he had the right to treat her however he pleased. Who did that guy think he was, anyway, to ask Sato, of all people, to deliver a letter from him to the woman he knew well they had been competing for right from the start? Oh, what did it matter? All Sato knew was that he wanted to sit down somewhere, and drink something, and read the newspaper, and talk to a random stranger, and definitely not think. Yes, thinking was the only thing he absolutely shouldn't do right now. He hurried towards the door and had it open in less than a second.
"I'm going now," he said, with a nod. "See you."
As if.
He closed the door, and he almost flinched at that sound of wood hitting wood, of the only chance he'd had to see her again closing forever behind him. He told himself now, when it was useless, that maybe he could have... He didn't know what. Done something, anything. But did he even want to? The very next moment, he was disgusted at himself for such weakness. Hands in his pockets, he picked his way carefully over the broken door at the entrance, and took a deep breath of fresh air. Whatever was fine, by now.

1. If your character were sent on a mission with the old Team 7 (Kakashi, Sasuke, Naruto, Sakura), who would he/she be most likely to get along best with? How about least? In both cases, please motivate. It's really difficult to tell. Hisao's least favorite would probably be Kakashi, though, because he would seem really distant and uncaring in general, which would subconsciously bother Hisao a little. But he wouldn't dislike the man. As for getting along best with, probably Sasuke, because his tendency to look down on others would suit Hisao the most. He'd feel as though he's being treated like he deserves.
2. Which of the three Sannin would your character choose to train with, if given the chance? Why? Orochimaru. His subordinates are very much like tools, and Hisao would be happy not having to think of himself as human, and having someone to basically serve. This way, he would be giving a pseudo-use to his existence, in his mind.
3. Assume your character was a Konoha nin (therefore supposedly loyal to his/her village). He/she knows all about Sasuke's departure AND the reasons behind it. What would he/she think about that? Does the purpose excuse the means? Hisao would really just avoid commenting or casting blame on anything or anyone, seeing as it's not his place to judge. He would probably be surprised that someone could put himself and some far-away goals before friends and the village that raised them, though.
4. Would your character die for his/her village? If yes, is it because she cares about the village or is it just because it's a shinobi's duty? If not, is it because he/she disagrees with the village's cause or is it because your character would only be looking out for his/her own good? Hisao would actually be happy to die for his village. Distantly because he cares about it and because it's his duty, both, but at the same time neither of those is the greatest reason. He would do it because it was the only way he could feel as though he had put his existence to use, instead of wasting space.
5. If given the choice, would your character rather save a companion in need or finish the mission they had? This would be a very tough choice for Hisao. It depends on who gave the mission and what difference failing it would make as opposed to completing it, as well as on who the companion is. If he likes the companion more than the person who gave the mission, though, he'll probably save them, and vice versa. Either way, he'd feel very guilty afterwards and would seek punishment somehow.
6. Would your character kill somebody just to prove his/her worth to someone else? It depends on who asked him to do the killing. If Hisao thought that person was very special and could never do wrong (in other words, if he highly admired that person), he would probably do it. Then again, if he was asked to kill a person equally important he wouldn't be able to decide and he'd have a mental breakdown, and if the victim was more important he would refuse.
7. What kind of people does your character hate the most? People who are distant and don't really interact with or pay attention to others. It's a subconscious thing, though. He doesn't realize that he becomes wary and tense around such people.
8. How much self-esteem does your character have? Zero, really. Explained in his personality very well.
9. Does your character talk to the opponent in battle? Why? Only if the opponent talks first. Then Hisao would feel that he was being asked to reply, and he would. Otherwise, no. He wouldn't see the point of wasting time and reducing his attention by talking.

Your quiz scored equally on Ame and Konoha. To be honest, your character's chakra nature points to Ame, though, and with his personality I much more rather see him there, too. xDD But I'll do you a favor and pick Konoha, since I know your friend's character's also in there and you'd probably want to RP. Plus, your character's maybe too nice and innocent for Ame in its current state, after all. xD (Yes, I'm finding excuses.)
Anyway, Konoha it is, and rank is Chuunin. Have fun! <3
