Name: Hitamatori - Hit-ah-ma-tory
Clan Leader: Hitamatori Yukio
Kekkei Genkai: here
Clan history: According to the old Hitamatori records the founder of the Hitamatori Clan disapeared for three years after the events concerning the demon. All records state that he reported the demon vanquished and then left for an unknown reason. What happened in these three years is unknown on any official records and histories but it is believed that this time was spent learning how to use his new powers that he gained from the demon. What is known for sure is that when he reported the demon dead he did not have any powers as far as the records state but when he did return he was reported to be diffrent somehow. His chakra seemed stronger and he had mastered new abilities involving a mix of Earth and Fire Jutsu that seemed to only be able to be done by him.
Also of note is that when he returned he refused to answer to his name which is now lost to history and insisted on being called Akuma instead.
Akuma Hitamatori once back seemed to withdraw from the village as a whole only talking to his family members including his wife and child whom he spent most of his time with. His family too began to withdraw from the village becoming less social then before even if they were still friendly to those that approached them. However none of them would talk about what was happening with the Hitamatori clan. If asked they would just pretend to not know what they were talking about.
Hitamatori records show that in this period of time Akuma was testing his clan to see if the demon's gift had passed to any of them. Which it had. Those of his blood shared his new gift and he set about teaching them how to use their abilities. In the following years of training those that showed no ability with the gift of the demon went back to their normal lives while those that did show promise continued to learn and harness this gift.
Soon the Hitamatori clan became a respected clan for Konoha members of the clan proved the usefulness of their new abilities on the field. The Hitamatori clan slowly grow more and more stable as more children seemed to develop the gift in their later years in their mid to late teens.
When Akuma died the leadership of the clan passed down to his son and down so forth so that each leader of the clan was a direct decedent of Akuma. In the case that there was no heir then the next closest in blood was made the clan leader. Because of this very accurate charts are kept with everyone's link to Akuma. Marriage outside of the clan is allowed but frowned upon by those closest to the bloodline of Akuma as it dilutes the bloodline. However the head of the clan is the only position earned by blood and all other positions are earned by merit. Because of this the head of the clan does not rule alone but instead rules the clan with a circle of the 5 best clan members with the head being a first among equals with executive powers of veto over the circle's decisions.
Ranking/social status: From the outside view of the Hitamatori clan it is a very laid back and friendly clan where the members are very respectful and friendly to each other. However under this respectful friendliness is an elaborate set of social rules and rankings that members of the Hitamatori clan are supposed to follow.
Rank is determined by several factors which will be listed in order of most influential to least influential.
Blood - How closely you are descended from the founder of the clan, Hitamatori Akuma.
Akuma (special) - If you are named Akuma you are granted a higher social status that would be equivalent to that of being one branch on the family tree closer to Akuma. Should you already be the closest blood decedent then it would be equivalent of having graduated the academy 1 year earlier then you actually did. However Akuma is considered a sacred name to the Hitamatori clan and should someone that bears this name be a disgrace to the clan then the whole family will lose status as if they were two branches further away from Akuma himself.
Merit - One also gains rank by merit. This includes performance on missions, times that you took the Chuunin exam, how long it took you to become a Genin, as well as the age that you reached Chuunin and Jounin or if you are in ANBU. For Non Shinobi you are granted the rank of 1 lower then your closest Shinobi relative.
Clan Leader - The Clan Leader is automatically given the highest social rank in the clan.
Interaction with diffrent ranks: Social rank is very important inside of the Hitamatori clan and life inside the clan quarters revolves around social rank. One is expected to deal with all clan members respectfully in front of non clan members but in private those of a higher rank carry more weight with their opinions and their advice is to be given more weight then that of someone with lower rank. With a high enough difference in rank the person with lower rank is just assumed to follow the advise of the person with higher rank without question. To go against it is to be very rude and is considered an insult.
When dealing with someone of equal rank a few things are taken in to consideration to determine who is of higher rank for the encounter. The first would be if you are on a mission then the mission leader is automatically the highest rank there. If you are not then the next thing to look at is gender. Men automatically have a higher rank in the case of a tie. This is because the founder of the clan was male and the blood limit tends to be stronger in males. Should both people be the same gender then you judge it on your father's rank and on upward until one person wins.
Should one do something that brings dishonor to the clan or is dvery disrespectful then punishment is administered in a public gathering. For these public displays of discipline the offender is strapped to a large wooden log with their back to the crowd. Then in the case of a disgrace to the clan every clan member may choose to switch the offender one time as hard as they want. For rudeness every person in the offended party are permitted to strap them until they feel they have punished the offender enough. Then they move to the next person that was wronged. Also one may choose to administer no punishment if one chooses. This stems from a belief that while people stray sometimes pain will dig the lesson in deep and make them less likely to dishonor the clan or any of it's members. These displays are never done when non clan members are around and any that are found will be escorted out by the clan. How roughly depends on if they resist.
Akuma: Akuma is a common name for the Hitamatori clan as parents tend to name their sons Akuma in hopes that the name will insure that they are not only strong and smart, but also in hopes that the child will bring much honor to the clan. To be named Akuma is a gift that means you have a higher status in the clan then you otherwise would. But on the other hand your performance is important to the clan and the family and because of such your actions determine not only your rank in the clan but that of your parents and siblings. No other name carries this weight and because of this added responsibility children with the name of Akuma tend to strive for excellence to meet up with the standards of the clan and the faith their parents put in them when they gave them this name.
