~~~FORUM RULES~~~
-----------------------------------
Firstly, bear in mind that we are very strict here and serious about the quality of our community. We want dedicated role-players who know what they're talking about and who won't leave permanently once they've made a couple of posts and got bored. We do delete inactive accounts. But at the same time we want intelligent, civilized human beings. We're a bunch of perfectionists. That is why the rather exclusive following set of rules has been devised:
1. You must be able to spell and use grammar decently. We're not asking you to be a grammar god, but please don't be dumb either. The only way around this is to go learn some more English. (P.S. - We're really not interested in excuses like "I'm dyslexic" and the likes. I know dyslexic people who can spell, or at least work decently with spellcheck.) Also, ALL role-playing is to be done in third person past tense and will use proper punctuation, like quotation marks to separate speech from actions. Absolutely no forms of chatspeak, and no typing LikE tHiS or l1k3 7h15. All-caps writing is also forbidden unless you want to emphasize some specific word or your character is shouting.
2. You must be able to role-play in paragraph form. We do not accept one-liners. To give you a bit of a guiding mark, you must have at least 100 words per post to be accepted. Though we'd REALLY prefer at least over 200. And in order to make us think you're shiny brilliant and stuff, you'll have to be a 400-words person and up.
3. You must be well-versed in the Naruto canon. We will have no frequently misspelled names, be it character, place or technique. If you're not confident with the Japanese version of a place or technique, use the English translation. Having one or two things you can't spell is acceptable, but you are required to try and correct yourself when we message you about it with the correct version. And we will.
4. Please keep your out of character conversations polite and avoid the usage of any offensive words, or you will be moderated.
5. Please do not use any other language than English (and the occasional Japanese terms every otaku will know). This is a community and everyone has the right to know what you are trying to say. If you wish for privacy, that's why it's called 'private' messaging.
6. Try not to clutter the board with irrelevant posts. Examples would be: a post that only says "Ok", a post that only contains an emoticon, etc.
7. If a section contains any sticky threads or announcements, please read them carefully before posting anything there.
8. You are allowed to have both avatars and signature images. However, the avatar must be a maximum size of 100x100 pixels. The signature image can be 250 pixels high and 600 pixels wide, at most. We will notify you if you have gone out of these limits. Also, if you don't have a place to host the images, ask an admin to do it for you.
9. Do not make any in-character posts until one of the admins has deemed your submission approved and told you it is safe to RP.
10. Liquid role-play is allowed. So go ahead and have as many open plots as you like. However, finish your threads. If you seem not to be posting some place anymore, that thread will be moved to a staff-only board with archiving purposes. You can ask us to bring it back, if you even remember it. It's as simple as that.
11. You must maintain a posting order, as we will not allow you to exclude someone who cannot log in as often as you do from the RP. Don't worry, you won't be highly delayed, as we ask our members to be active. Therefore, if a thread has Poster X, Poster Y and Poster Z, the posting order shall ALWAYS be X, Y, Z, X, Y, Z, X... so on. If Poster A wants to join, they will post whenever they can. Say, if that happened to be behind Poster Y, the new order will be X, Y, A, Z, X, Y, A, Z. You get it, come on, it's not that difficult.
12. Do not god-mode in your RP. That includes a broad range of things, from not giving your character limits to assuming control of another player's character without their agreement. Also, there will be no killing of any characters unless all participating parties agree to it. If you are seen doing these abominable things, the almighty admins shall interfere and rectify the discrepancies you will no doubt have created.
13. While fighting another character, you are strictly forbidden to auto-hit. That means you can only make your attack but not decide its effects on the attacked character; that's its own player's job. You should be able to recognize when someone's character clearly outmatches yours and admit defeat. There's no killing anyway, unless you agree to it, so what the heck?
14. Explicit mature content is allowed if all involved parties agree to it, but only in passworded threads which you will ask the admins to create for you. Otherwise, you shall be censored. Also, no mature content in your avatar or signature, or anything else open to the public.
15. We have an NPC service! Yay. What does this mean? It's a non-specific account with the username 'npcs' and the display name 'Non-Player Characters', which may be accessed by any of the admins and global mods. It can pop up in your threads and do random stuff, if you ask. Characters played by it will have minor roles, and can fulfill the duties of a missing sensei or a messenger, if needed. If you want this account to post in any of your threads, PM an admin or global mod of your choice, and ask that person to do it for you. You can ask for it to do something random of that person's choice, or something specific that you have in mind. Have fun with it! <3
16. You must make clear differences between the real world and the Narutoverse, which is only inspired from it, but combined with aspects of feudal Japan. It is a fictional setting, therefore the countries in Naruto are not located anywhere in the real world, so your character did not come from China/France/USA/WhateverLand. There will be no mentioning of any celebrities, bands or books, or movies or whatever else you can think of while in character. For example, if we catch your character saying they like My Chemical Romance, or they've watched Titanic, we're gonna go all admin on you. Song lyrics are accepted, but if you want to give credit to the original creator, make an OOC mention. (Also, from Saori: Don't you even dare to use 'emo', 'goth', 'prep' and other stupid stereotypes. They don't seem to HAVE those in the Narutoverse, end of discussion.)
17. There will be no random traveling to other villages than the one your character lives in, if you don't have a purpose for going there. That usually means if you haven't been sent on a mission or called there by someone. Wanderers and other such figures are obviously exceptions, they can travel to mostly anywhere. Also, whenever you actually go to a village or ANY place, you normally have to report to the gates/entrance and wait for official permission to enter. We've decided to no longer bother you with actually posting there, but make sure to still not be any place you would normally not manage to go. The obvious reason for this rule? Realism.
18. You are not allowed to invent random missions and send your character off. If you want a mission, you will report to the Kage or leader of your village and ask for one. The NPC account handles the unoccupied functions, so fear not, just go there and you'll get something.
Well, that's it for now, people. If you think you have a pertinent rule suggestion that we should add to this list, then by all means message an admin about it. We will even credit you and increase your karma for it. Yay.
