This Apartment is actually not only Hayato's, but the Hayato-Sakurada residence. Sakurada is Hayato's roommate. Since keeping a whole apartment for himself is not only troublesome to keep in shape, but also uses up a lot of money, both share the small flat. Thus making it a bit more comfortable and of better quality than what each could afford on their own. When you enter you're standing in the central room, which is a livingroom-kitchen. The kitchen has an oven, a sink, some cupboards and the most important thing for the two Chunin residents: a coffee machine. It has a long board with two bar-stools beside it. If they are alone or it's only the two of them, breakfast and most meals are taken there. If not they sit on the couch in the living room at a small table. Although Sakurada insisted on buying a kotatsu, Hayato bought an armchair instead, saying a kotatsu is too old fashioned. He usually sits on that chair to drink coffee or slurp his instant ramen. Although he wants, he is forbidden to smoke in the room, thus having to do it outside.
To the right side are two rooms, Hayato's and Sakurada's. Behind the kitchen part of the room, which is parallel to the entrance, is the bathroom, which you can enter from a door on the left side of the small corridor which comes from the central room and is on the right side, along the two bedrooms. It is narrow, but it got space enough for a shower, toilet and washing machine.

Hayato wanted to smoke. But it was late, and he definitely wouldn't want to get dressed and go outside again. Especially after the shower he just took. So he was sitting on his armchair, with a warm cup of tea - his own cup for his self brewn tea - in his hands. Although making tea and cleaning was the only thing he could do. Since Sakurada was out on guard duty tonight, meant he had to cook for himself. Which always ended up with him buying instant ramen or other fast food, where he just had to heat up water or put the thing in the oven. He admired people who could cook nowadays. Like Sakurada-san. But of course he wouldn't tell him that. He just takes more turns on cleaning, to shove more cooking duty on him. Which is also a reason why he is keen on not making additional crap or buying junk that collects dust. Which is why the apartment was pretty spartan.
But since both were Shinobi, that is to be expected. They are away on missions or guard duty from time to time, so they both like to keep "things" in the apartment at the minimum amount. Taking turns is also expected, and usually depend on their working schedule. While he was a pretty rogue Chunin, doing various missions on various levels of difficulty and danger, the elder Sakurada had a more stable mission variety. If he wasn't on guard duty, he often went to academy to give extra-curricular lessons on Nature&Survival and occasionally swimming. Maybe it was because he aimed to be a Jounin instructor that he always got/chose missions in that area. Weirdly enough for some people, Hayato adresses his co-resident and senpai as Sakurada-san. No senpai or even sensei and still does up to date - although Sakurada has offered first name basis. He is fine though with being called Hayato, although sometimes the flirty tone Sakurada uses is very annoying for him.
He took another slurp of the tea. He laughed lightly, thinking about the goal his roomate had chosen. Not because he ridiculed him, but because they both had ambitions. Hayato preferred administrative tasks, on-the-road-missions and playing messenger, but he wasn't old enough to make big requests. While Sakurada could. He had a simpler goal, compared to his, but he was some steps ahead. If he concentrated more on training, he could even be a Jounin in 1-2 years. Hayato himself still had work to do. Especially getting more connections, like even Sakurada had. But Sakurada was always a bit more - if not too- sociable.
"Still that faraway..." Hayato sighed. Great ambitions require even greater amount of effort and talent, preferably both. If he had been anyone less than himself he would not try, but since he had the skills that were required... it was all a question of time and effort. To put it into simpler words 'blood and sweat'.
Hayato downed the rest of the hot tea and set it on the table. "Well maybe I shall not end the day like that, but with a little more effort." Jutsu training would have to suffice, since he would like to avoid getting sweaty again, since he already showered. So he put on his Shinobi attire, complete with the vest and hitai-ate, and went to the door, outside.
Besides now he could at least get a smoke again. He pulled out a lighter from a pouch and lighted the cigarette and closed/locked the door behind him, as he went out.
