Facial Traits: Kaien has very few distinctive marking on his face, his deep red eyes seem to draw they eye even with his mask in, they seem to peer into the soul of those who he glares at. His small rather narrow nose seems to slightly curve down, coming to a point right about his narrow lips. He is most often clean-shaven and rather well maintained.
Clothing Style: Kaien dresses in a somewhat unique style, which tends to fit him and his style quite well. Starting from the top down, Kaien is always seen wearing a solid white mask with no emotion painted on it, just two small slits for eyeholes. Across his chest he wears somewhat of a half shirt, covering his ribs, ending at the base of his rib cage, it is very tightly fitted and has a large metal ring on the front of it. From the ring six straps branch off toward his arms, three each side, these attack the selves of his shirt to the chest, also connected by one shoulder strap and two along the back. The selves start about mid shoulder, with about two inches of space between the chest piece and each sleeve. The top section of the sleeve is very tightly fitted showing all the muscle tone of his arm, and is tied by bands of cloth at the elbow. From the elbow down the sleeves bloom out into large bells. Each bell ends a few inches past his hand and are about six to eight inches wide.
Looking down Kaien, his stomach is completely exposed showing his abs and the tops of his pelvic crests. Across the top of his pants he has the sound rope and knot tied, with the large bow in the back. His pants are black and run the full length of his leg, but at wrapped tight at the base, from about mid shin down, with white wraps, which also cover his feet. He wears traditional black ninja sandals, with no alterations made to them.
Within each sleeve there is a latch system worked out that can house each of his claws when he doesn’t have them out. The claws lock into each sleeve and rest across his arms, with a small arm guard keeping his skin safe.
Habits: Kaien has only rarely been seen without his mask, or some type of face cover. The only time he takes it off is when needing to go under cover, and then he will let his hair down and change his entire outfit. This is so that no one would recognize him, or be able to track him.
Brief Character History:
Birth – Genin
Kaien was born to a low income family is what most would consider an under developed area. His mother was a shopkeeper, always helping the people of the town by lowering her prices for some to make sure they got the food their families need. While his father was a local handy man, always willing to give someone a helping hand patching a roof or replacing a broken window. His little family was rather happy simply getting by.
When Kaien turn twelve he was approached by several of the instructors from the ninja academy, due to his high natural chakra levels. His parents were overjoyed; their son could get out of the area they lived in and become something more than just getting by. Kaien was reluctant at first but eventually enlisted in the academy.
Kaien was at the top of his class, mastering the basics much faster than other students, spending a good deal of time after class near the school practicing since his home was so far away. Kaien spent most of his time sleeping on benches or outside of the school, since his family couldn’t afford for him to get a place in the city. Within a year Kaien would graduate from the academy and be promoted to rank of Genin, Kaien didn’t know that their was war going on.
Genin Life – Before Chunnin Exam
Soon after graduating from the academy Kaien was issued to a squad and sent to fight in the third great shinobi war, as a child with no experience he was sent to fight for something he didn’t understand. During the war Kaien lost his other two-team mates and his instructor but due to his cunning and agility Kaien managed to survive and become somewhat of a hero to his people. A Genin taking down Chunnin and injuring Jounin without getting killing, he was an inspiration to his people. Kaien would spend two years fighting in this war.
By time Kaien had returned from the war he had changed, most people believed he had become a mute, but he just chose not to speak, he spent the past two years alone. He had had no reason to speak that whole time and had learned to go without it. He was greeted as a hero, the only one of the Genin from his class to have survived the war, it was truly remarkable. Kaien felt a deep hole in the bit of his stomach, he had lost all his friends to a cause he still didn’t understand.
He was still excited, even with everything that had happened to him he would still be able to go home now and see his parents, oh so he hoped. When he returned to his home town he found nothing but rubble, he searched high and low only finding bodies. He came to his mothers shop, and began digging, tears swelling up in his eyes as he found her crushed. Her lifeless body buried under rock, he hugged her and apologized. As he lifted her, her hand opened and a Konoha headband dropped. His eyes filled with rage, he wanted revenge. As he stood up he slammed his back into a shelf still standing, the last thing from his mothers shop still in tact, still standing, a single shelf with an unpainted Kabuki mask sitting on it. From that day on Kaien dawned his mask.
Kaien would participate in the reconstruction efforts of his village, assisting in any thing he was asked to do in hopes to getting his village back together. He would spend nearly a year working with his hands building new homes and other building.
Chunnin Exam
Before complete reconstruction had finished Kaien was informed that the Chunnin exams were coming up, and he was asked to participate by the Kage themselves, merely to show the ability of the war hero, now being called “The Fox of the Falls”. Kaien accepted and was dispatched to Konoha where they were being held this year. He was sent alone since his squad was killed, him being sent was more a pliability thing not expecting him to pass or even making it in.
Kaien would pass the first test with ease, not needing to copy any information but knowing a good deal of the information on it. He would then move into the forest of death, given a heave scroll to protect. As he entered the forest he looked at the other teams, all gather working out plans, and he was alone. He entered and didn’t look back, he was going to pass, no matter what, or so he thought. As he wandered the forest he would encounter an entire team of Sand Konoichi, they would attack him, but due to his quick reflects and speed he would dodge their attacks. He sighed deeply tossing them the scroll, not being willing to hit a woman. He would then run off, cursing his rules.
As Kaien continued to walk around he noticed a squad of Konoha nin moving around him. He jumped up the tree they were heading for, he needed a new scroll and he was going to get it. As the Konoha nin jumped across the branches of the tree, Kaien lowered some wire catching one by the neck pulling him up and tying it to the branch. The nin flailed as he began chocking. Kaien then grabbed three kunai from his bag and placed them between his knuckles, standing in front of the other two. He was waiting for them. One of the boys panicked and dropped back, “You know who that is” he shouted to the other, who looked confused, “That’s The Fox of the Falls, he’s like a legend in Waterfall country, the genin that takes Jounin.” The boy said getting up to run. His friend grabbed him, and pointed to their other ally who was begin to die. They both drew their kunai and charged Kaien. Who quickly slashed one other the necks and stabbed the other in the stomach. As the boys lay dying Kaien searched their bags grabbing their scroll and continuing forward.
As Kaien moved through the forest of death, he readjusted his make shift claws from the kunai. He took a senbon and slides it through the ring holes in the kunai bending the ends so they stayed together. He liked the concept of the claws they gave him more reach and at the same time, speed. Wondering around would introduce Kaien to a new “Ally”, but that would be in time, the initial contact would seem more troublesome than anything. Souta Hideo Takazawa, The Oni of the Mist, he was a large obnoxious man, constantly bragging, and attacking others. When the two men first meet he charged Kaien swinging his large club randomly trying to make contact with Kaien’s head. Moving quickly around the club Kaien tried to explain to the man he didn’t have a need to fight him, but it didn’t seem to work.
Eventually the two would some how convey the plan to work together to gather a scroll for each of them to pass this section. Souta would typically charge down swinging like a mad man at a squad of Genin and Kaien would take out those who tried to run and gather the scrolls. Together they managed to take out seven Genin squads, eventually gathering the scrolls they needed and heading to the finish point.
Kaien and Souta would separate at this point, but it would not be the last time Kaien would see “The Oni of the Mist”. During the third stage of the Chunnin exams Kaien would observe his prior allies fight seeing the same savagery that he had shown in the previous stage. When it was Kaien’s turn he dropped over the rail and walked to the center, he looked over at a stocky Konoha nin. Kaien took out his make shift claws, and as the fight started he jumped back dodging the man first attack then deflecting the Kunai he threw. Standing back up Kaien glared at the man, in his eyes the Konoha nin saw death, carnage, Kaien had activated the only true jutsu he had learned, “Killer Intent”. In his eyes the man saw his own death, and Kaien planed to make it a reality. The man saw Kaien rushing in and slashing his stomach open. As Kaien charged him he forfeited, tears running down his face, Kaien continued forwards, the coward wasn’t getting away. As he brought back his arm the stab him, he felt the ground suddenly get closer, then slamming down. Seems someone Jounin instructor was stopping the fight, Kaien looked over at the man, he was from Sand, he had no grudge with this man, so he picked himself up and returned to his spot on the rail to watch the rest of the fights.
After the rest of the fighters finished Kaien was given one month to rest and prepare for the final match. Kaien spent most of this time relaxing and taking in the sites, rather than training. He would wondering around the city, watching the students train at the academy, even getting permission to sit in on a few of the classes. As the month came to an end Kaien spent the last week watching his competition train, being able to move without being able to be detected. The most interesting was a Nara from Konoha, he was said to be the shoe in this year, and his abilities were above that of a Genin. Kaien took special interest in learning his skills, watching how every move worked.
As the day arrived fireworks went off though out the town, the people began filing into the stadium. As people gathered to watch the fight Kaien stood at the end of a flagpole over hanging the stadium center, he was ready and wasn’t going to give up no matter whom he was up against. A loud announcement asked for all Genin participating to meet at the center of the ring, as they began to file in Kaien dropped down and began walking along side everyone else. As they introduced everyone Kaien looked around, it was surprising how many people had shown up for an event that happened every year. As the announcer finished they announced the matches, Kaien didn’t even notice them call his name, he was more engrossed in what was going on outside the ring, Chunnin, Genin, Jounin, even Kage’s had gathered.
As all the fighters left the ring Kaien went to follow everyone, but was stopped by the proctor, and was informed he was in the first match. Kaien nodded then looked back seeing the Nara he was observing before. The proctor shouted out to the crowd, “This will be our first fight, Ika Nara vs. Kaien Hoshi, The Flaming Shadow vs. The Fox of the Falls.” Kaien seemed confused by his name but was prepared for anything as the proctor’s arm dropped singling the start of the fight. The Nara’s shadow shot across the ground towards Kaien’s feet, he jumped back dodging it, then again to the side as the shadow chased him across the arena, he had to keep from getting hit by that shadow. As he bounced around the arena he saw a slight advantage, he jumped up hitting the wall and looked down at the Nara, whose Shadow started to climb behind him. Kaien then bounced from the wall, flying over the Nara, tossing several Kunai at him. Jumping to the side Ika’s shadow broke, Kaien then started his attack, he took out his make shift claws and rushing in, moving faster than most could see. A slight nick here, a minor cut there. Kaien was slicing the Nara down slowly, not allowing his shadow to even get close. The Nara become engrossed in rage, trying to catch Kaien seemed to be all but impossible for him. Kaien then dropped back. He waved, and nodded to the man, who was very confused. He then tossed a Kunai at the wall he was at before, which cut a thread of wire, as the wire snapped, the hissing noise of it sliding along the branch above Ika could be heard through out the arena. Kaien had tied it to a large fallen branch and pulled it up, when the line was cut it applied weight to the wire he had been slowly wrapping Ika in. The wire rapidly tightened, the man’s screams canceling out the crash from the branch hitting the ground. The proctor announced him the winner by KO and Kaien was allowed to leave the arena. Kaien would watch the final matches, and wait to hear how he did.
When the results were announced, three people were announced to have passed, Souta, One of the Sand Konoichi he had given his scroll to, and himself. He was somewhat surprised but at the same time he knew he was far above the level of most the people here. As he went to leave Konoha to return home after the events that had unfolded he was approached by an odd looking man, he told Kaien if he ever seeked true power to search him out, his name was Orchimaru. Kaien left Konoha rather confused after that.
Returns to Land Of Falls
From the moment he returned to his village Kaien began vigorous training, hopping to raise through the ranks faster and become an even more well know shinobi. His goal was to create a Jutsu all his own, something that focused on his natural talent and abilities. From this training would create Kaze Sochi, his wind walking jutsu. Along with actually getting a pair of claws and training with those Kaien slowly grew more powerful as a Ninja.
Kaien would never be reassigned to a squad instead he was told his skills were more honed for working along, since that is what he had been doing this whole time. They formed him thought missions, slowly making him into the perfect assassin, silent, cold and heartless. Kaien would grow further and further from the rest of his ninja community, becoming somewhat of an outcast among his own people.
As the years past his claw and wind speciation would lead to a few other jutsu that assisted with his missions, Hein being a major one, allowing him to slice through walls about three feet in thickness. His speed would be the main physical trait he would raise slowly being able to vanish from site without the use of his Kaze Sochi.
Thought out his years of completing missions for his country Kaien would be promoted to Jounin, but never get any Genin assigned to him, thinking he would lead them to their deaths. He would simply follow the same life he had been leading, never getting a chance to change it.
Leaves Falls
Kaien would eventually grow tired of his constant life style, never changing always sent away to kill someone his Kage feared. He became feared by the people of his country, thinking that one day he may rise against them, his power became something more of legend, growing out of control. Until one day, he was ordered to kill a Konoichi from Sand, she apparently was ordered to keep on eye on his Kage to prevent the formation of a plan of war. Kaien would slowly approach the women, she not hearing him. Kaien dropped behind her, and looked, the Konoichi that had passed the Chunnin exams with him. Kaien would inform the woman of the assassination attempt on her, in writing of course. She would quickly flee the country and return home, that day Kaien decided to leave the land of the falls and search out the one man who promised him true power, Orchimaru.
Contact with Orchimaru
Kaien would eventually through connections he had formed before leaving his country find the location to Orchimaru’s hide out. He would end up breaking in and wondering around the underground maze for hours. Eventually the hall would poor out in front of the man he was looking for. Orchimaru. He would stand as the man walked up to him, he was concerned this man was one of legendary sannin, he stood no chance if he decided to attack. Orchimaru would question the man’s presence and after a very long process Kaien would be accepted into his ranks, working his way up from the bottom.
After a short time there Orchimaru would begin to fall into the habit of using Kaien for his very particular talents. Sending him into countries to retrieve information or bring him back a new “recruit” as they slowly became known as. Kaien didn’t mind, he was promised power with time, so until that day he would take his orders and due as he was told.
After about a year of working for Orchimaru Kaien would be paired up with an old “friend” I guess you could call him, Souta, or as he was called now “Oni”. It seemed that Souta kept killing everyone he was paried with for missions and Orchimaru was growing tired of it, so he sent Kaien with him, or now called “Fox” and if he were to misbehave he was to take him out. Kaien would no see the point whenever Souta would swing he would easily dodge the attack, a lot of power with little accuracy.
From that point Kaien and Souta would be paried for the next seven years, training together and working together. The only two-man squad in the village, it was for the best though, typically when people tagged along they didn’t come back. Within these seven years Kaien grew more and more powerful, fast and faster, soon able to rival any ninja’s speed. After their years of service to Orchimaru he would give them something of a gift, “Curse Seals,” the power Kaien had been waiting for. The seal would grant him increased speed and chakra, but also alter his physical form, giving him a fox tail and ears, also altering his fangs. He would spend another 4 years under Orchimaru perfecting the new curse seal with Souta.
Moving on
Kaien would grow tired of Orchimaru doing the same thing his last leader did, he did nothing but get sent to kill constantly. Kaien feeling that he had learned all that he need from Orchimaru left sound, and went off alone, or so he thought. Seemed Souta decided he was done as well and the two of them have been together since then. They have slowly become more and more well known thought out the Shinobi world, know as “Bash and Slash”, Or more often, “Oni of the Mist and The Fox Of the Falls”.
Character's Personality: (Very brief just to cover a few things)
Kaien’s biggest personality issue is that he does not speak, only on very rare occasion. But due to this not a whole lot comes off through verbal communication like most others instead Kaien communicated through shrugs and nods and often time gets misconstrued as some type of insult. Kaien is a very clam and intelligent man, understand most things only after seeing them once, with the ability to figure attack patterns out only after minutes of a fight.
The mask is a visual representation of the blankness that he feels, the emptiness of his soul. Kaien walks with death; he does not fear it but embraces it, waiting for it. The mask is worn to keep his enemy from seeing the pain and anguish on his face.
The largest psychological problem Kaien has is fighting without his mask, he is unable to fight without his face covered. It comes from years of the mask hiding his feeling and emotions from his target during a battle. Due to this Kaien has developed somewhat of spilt personalities, the masked “Fox Of The Falls” and Kaien Hoshi.
Without his mask Kaien is very kind and people are typically drawn to him, he is just a fun loving individual. He doesn’t come off as someone who could have taken a life merely hours before. Also the major difference is without his mask, or face covered Kaien is willing to speak, showing that he is not a mute but rather chooses not to talk.
With the mask he is silent, cold and distant. He has no wish to deal with people is much more content being alone. He is more often then not wearing it, only removing it for special occasions.

An extra extension of invisible chakra will create a sharp edge that functions like the normal blade itself. Seeing the object the opponent may misjudge how far they need to move to avoid an incoming strike. Even if they manage to avoid the metal portion of the blade, the chakra portion may cut into them as well.
Name: Curse Seal "Kitsune"- This is a minor seal from Orochimaru's early developments it only makes minor changes to the physical appearance when used and only increases the users physical agility by 75%.
Level one release: It will look like slashes across the skin of the users, starting from the face heading towards the ears.
Slight speed increase about 15%.
Level two release: This release will cause the user to grow a large fox like tail, that hangs about to the ground, an fox ears, their feet will readjust to be more like canine feet allowing for faster movement.

This is used for a major speed boast allowing the user to move as fast as they can rotate the chakra under their feet. This chakra also takes on the characteristics of water walking and tree climbing allowing the users to move across water and walls with it.

Fuuton • Daitoppa is a Ninjutsu technique, which utilizes the Wind Element. After bringing their hand to their mouth, the user will blow a large blast of wind capable of leveling almost anything in its way. A variation of the technique involves a smaller blast of wind which gets ignited with flame.

Shikumi no Jutsu is a technique used to completely stun an opponent. If the target looks into the eyes of the ninja, their mind is suddenly inflicted with intense visions of their own brutal killing. This results in their body going into shock and being unable to move. If the target can physically injure their own body, the pain can be enough to end the paralysis.

A silhouette of a man sits in a cell; his face hung low, his arms hanging in front of him. His hair hanging around his face, he drops back and lays flat on his cot, a smile creeps across his face, he lifts his left arm and looks at his watch, “One hour” he says to himself as he sets the alarm to sound at midnight and he closes his eyes. He brings up his right arm, red and orange steal coat it, he rests it under his head. Dressing in a black T-shirt and blue jeans the man lays quietly on the bed and begins to fall asleep, sounds come from the other cells, some of tears, others anger.
“Beep, Beep, Beep!” the alarm sounds on the watch, the mans eyes fight at first then open, he looks at the watch, and hits the button on the side turning off the alarm, he shifts himself and sits up. Then rising to his feet he walks over to the cell door, it is a solid steal door with a small barred window, he pears out of the window seeing five men walking the halls, a small voice comes from the cell next to him, “Converts”, it is a small girl, no older than thirteen, she has long brown hair pulled back into a pony tail, wearing a soccer uniform, “They are all strength users,” her voice whispered as one of the men than slammed on her cell, causing her to start crying again.
“Hey buddy, you feel big picking on a little girl?” The man in the cell said, “Guess being someone’s bitch means your pretty pathetic” The smile came across the man in the cells face. He began tapping his metal hand on the cell just trying to get the man on the other side of the door to start something.
The man grabbed the chat off the door, “Kuro Boushi, one armed armor user” he laughed He grabbed the door and ripped it from the wall, “I am going to crush that pretty little mouth of yours!” he said as he charged into the room.
“Oh you think I am pretty?” Kuro said with a laugh dropping down sending the man flipping over him and landing on the bed, he smiled and began to bounce like a boxer, “Come on put ‘em up,” he said as he whipped his nose with his hand.
The man got back up and tackled Kuro sending him slamming into the wall, Kuro released a gasp as they hit, then the smile returned as he brought the elbow of his right arm down on the man’s back causing him to black out in an instant. Kuro looked around, it seemed that the other men had been checking the other cells, but they had probably heard the noise, “Stand back” he said to the girl as he grabbed the handle and ripped the door open, “Come on lets get you out of here.” He said as he grabbed her and tossed her on his back and began to run.
After taking a few steps he stopped, and sighed, “Wait one second,” he said placing her down, and then began opening all the doors in the hall, power users began filling the hallway, “Alright everyone Go, get out of here quick.” He said as they all began to run through the hall.
As the group ran down the halls, the other four men soon caught up to them, they were gaining quick. Kuro put the little girl down and turned to face the men, “Go get out of here I will slow them down.” He said pointing at the exit.
The girl yelled, “Your crazy they will kill you.” She said, “They aren’t just going to lock you up, they are going to kill you and use your body for experiments.” She looked up at him.
Kuro turned his head, “You haven’t seen Crazy yet.” He said, and then slammed his right hand into the wall, ripping out a large metal pole, “Now go!” he shouted at her.
There was a long pause, the someone from the group looked, “IS THAT THE SUPPORT BEAM TO THE BUILDING!?!?!” he shouted then grabbed the little girl and began pulling her out of the exit.
Kuro smiled, and then ran towards guards, “You want a piece of me do ya?” he said tackling one of them, then being grabbed and slammed into the wall, “Ouch, I take it you want to whole thing,” he gasped for air, as one of the men held him while one of the others began punching him, he began grunting as the hits landed, each stronger than the last. As the man hitting him pulled his arm back all the way, and threw his punch Kuro bounced up and rolled over the man holding him and shoved him forward into the punch. The man then gasped and collapsed in pain, the two more came from behind him, grabbing his arms, while the other one ran at him, Kuro lifted his weight and kicked the man in the jaw causing him to flip back and land on his head knocking him out. The two men began pulling on Kuro trying to rip him in two, “Ouch,” he said as his muscles began to tear, he joints began to pop, “Alright you know what” Kuro said then a load ping echoed threw the hall.
At first they thought Kuro had broken then a bolt fell form the ceiling, “Oh this isn’t going to be good,” Kuro said with a bit of a whimper, another bolt then a sheet of steal fell. The ceiling began falling, and then all at once the building came crashing down.
The people Kuro had saved had just gotten outside as the building fell, “That moron could have crushed us all.” One of the members of the group said, “That moron saved all of us from death, so you best not talk bad about him.” The little girl sat in front of the collapsed building; she looked at the rubble, “Thank you.” She said with a small tear.
A small “No…..Problem” came from the pile, the rubble began moving as Kuro slowly stood up, holding a large sheet of steel on his back, as he tossed it off, he revealing the other guards under it with him. He stood up and cracked his neck, “That was to close,” he smiled and looked at the group, “Alright everyone get out of here before anyone shows up and catches you all again.
One of the men from the group lit his hand a blaze, “What about them?” he said, “I say we touch them from putting us threw that hell!” he shouted some of the group agreed, “Ya kill them, they would have done it to us,” a women said, “Without a second thought” a voice from the back said.
Kuro stood still in front of the men, “I will restrain them, and make sure they are held but they will not be harmed any more then they already are.” He smiled at the group, “Now you best get going, go see you families and loved one,” he shoed them with his hand, “Go on get.” He said.
He grabbed large beams of steel, then activated his armor across both of his arms, and began bending the steel around the men, holding them in place, “Now I hope you have learned something today,” he smiled and walked over to the little girl who was waiting for him, “Alright lets get you back to your parents like I promised. He lifted the girl up placing her on his back and began walking toward the sunset.
A small voice came from his back, “I live that way.” She said and pointed the other direction. Kuro turned around and began walking, “I knew that…” he said, “I was, um testing you,” he laughed.

Facial Traits: Kaien has very few distinctive marking on his face, his deep red eyes seem to draw they eye even with his mask in, they seem to peer into the soul of those who he glares at. His small rather narrow nose seems to slightly curve down, coming to a point right about his narrow lips. He is most often clean-shaven and rather well maintained.
Clothing Style: Kaien dresses in a somewhat unique style, which tends to fit him and his style quite well. Starting from the top down, Kaien is always seen wearing a solid white mask with no emotion painted on it, just two small slits for eyeholes. Across his chest he wears somewhat of a half shirt, covering his ribs, ending at the base of his rib cage, it is very tightly fitted and has a large metal ring on the front of it. From the ring six straps branch off toward his arms, three each side, these attack the selves of his shirt to the chest, also connected by one shoulder strap and two along the back. The selves start about mid shoulder, with about two inches of space between the chest piece and each sleeve. The top section of the sleeve is very tightly fitted showing all the muscle tone of his arm, and is tied by bands of cloth at the elbow. From the elbow down the sleeves bloom out into large bells. Each bell ends a few inches past his hand and are about six to eight inches wide.
Looking down Kaien, his stomach is completely exposed showing his abs and the tops of his pelvic crests. Across the top of his pants he has the sound rope and knot tied, with the large bow in the back. His pants are black and run the full length of his leg, but at wrapped tight at the base, from about mid shin down, with white wraps, which also cover his feet. He wears traditional black ninja sandals, with no alterations made to them.
Within each sleeve there is a latch system worked out that can house each of his claws when he doesn’t have them out. The claws lock into each sleeve and rest across his arms, with a small arm guard keeping his skin safe.
Habits: Kaien has only rarely been seen without his mask, or some type of face cover. The only time he takes it off is when needing to go under cover, and then he will let his hair down and change his entire outfit. This is so that no one would recognize him, or be able to track him.
Brief Character History:
Birth – Genin
Kaien was born to a low income family is what most would consider an under developed area. His mother was a shopkeeper, always helping the people of the town by lowering her prices for some to make sure they got the food their families need. While his father was a local handy man, always willing to give someone a helping hand patching a roof or replacing a broken window. His little family was rather happy simply getting by.
When Kaien turn twelve he was approached by several of the instructors from the ninja academy, due to his high natural chakra levels. His parents were overjoyed; their son could get out of the area they lived in and become something more than just getting by. Kaien was reluctant at first but eventually enlisted in the academy.
Kaien was at the top of his class, mastering the basics much faster than other students, spending a good deal of time after class near the school practicing since his home was so far away. Kaien spent most of his time sleeping on benches or outside of the school, since his family couldn’t afford for him to get a place in the city. Within a year Kaien would graduate from the academy and be promoted to rank of Genin, Kaien didn’t know that their was war going on.
Genin Life – Before Chunnin Exam
Soon after graduating from the academy Kaien was issued to a squad and sent to fight in the third great shinobi war, as a child with no experience he was sent to fight for something he didn’t understand. During the war Kaien lost his other two-team mates and his instructor but due to his cunning and agility Kaien managed to survive and become somewhat of a hero to his people. A Genin taking down Chunnin and injuring Jounin without getting killing, he was an inspiration to his people. Kaien would spend two years fighting in this war.
By time Kaien had returned from the war he had changed, most people believed he had become a mute, but he just chose not to speak, he spent the past two years alone. He had had no reason to speak that whole time and had learned to go without it. He was greeted as a hero, the only one of the Genin from his class to have survived the war, it was truly remarkable. Kaien felt a deep hole in the bit of his stomach, he had lost all his friends to a cause he still didn’t understand.
He was still excited, even with everything that had happened to him he would still be able to go home now and see his parents, oh so he hoped. When he returned to his home town he found nothing but rubble, he searched high and low only finding bodies. He came to his mothers shop, and began digging, tears swelling up in his eyes as he found her crushed. Her lifeless body buried under rock, he hugged her and apologized. As he lifted her, her hand opened and a Konoha headband dropped. His eyes filled with rage, he wanted revenge. As he stood up he slammed his back into a shelf still standing, the last thing from his mothers shop still in tact, still standing, a single shelf with an unpainted Kabuki mask sitting on it. From that day on Kaien dawned his mask.
Kaien would participate in the reconstruction efforts of his village, assisting in any thing he was asked to do in hopes to getting his village back together. He would spend nearly a year working with his hands building new homes and other building.
Chunnin Exam
Before complete reconstruction had finished Kaien was informed that the Chunnin exams were coming up, and he was asked to participate by the Kage themselves, merely to show the ability of the war hero, now being called “The Fox of the Falls”. Kaien accepted and was dispatched to Konoha where they were being held this year. He was sent alone since his squad was killed, him being sent was more a pliability thing not expecting him to pass or even making it in.
Kaien would pass the first test with ease, not needing to copy any information but knowing a good deal of the information on it. He would then move into the forest of death, given a heave scroll to protect. As he entered the forest he looked at the other teams, all gather working out plans, and he was alone. He entered and didn’t look back, he was going to pass, no matter what, or so he thought. As he wandered the forest he would encounter an entire team of Sand Konoichi, they would attack him, but due to his quick reflects and speed he would dodge their attacks. He sighed deeply tossing them the scroll, not being willing to hit a woman. He would then run off, cursing his rules.
As Kaien continued to walk around he noticed a squad of Konoha nin moving around him. He jumped up the tree they were heading for, he needed a new scroll and he was going to get it. As the Konoha nin jumped across the branches of the tree, Kaien lowered some wire catching one by the neck pulling him up and tying it to the branch. The nin flailed as he began chocking. Kaien then grabbed three kunai from his bag and placed them between his knuckles, standing in front of the other two. He was waiting for them. One of the boys panicked and dropped back, “You know who that is” he shouted to the other, who looked confused, “That’s The Fox of the Falls, he’s like a legend in Waterfall country, the genin that takes Jounin.” The boy said getting up to run. His friend grabbed him, and pointed to their other ally who was begin to die. They both drew their kunai and charged Kaien. Who quickly slashed one other the necks and stabbed the other in the stomach. As the boys lay dying Kaien searched their bags grabbing their scroll and continuing forward.
As Kaien moved through the forest of death, he readjusted his make shift claws from the kunai. He took a senbon and slides it through the ring holes in the kunai bending the ends so they stayed together. He liked the concept of the claws they gave him more reach and at the same time, speed. Wondering around would introduce Kaien to a new “Ally”, but that would be in time, the initial contact would seem more troublesome than anything. Souta Hideo Takazawa, The Oni of the Mist, he was a large obnoxious man, constantly bragging, and attacking others. When the two men first meet he charged Kaien swinging his large club randomly trying to make contact with Kaien’s head. Moving quickly around the club Kaien tried to explain to the man he didn’t have a need to fight him, but it didn’t seem to work.
Eventually the two would some how convey the plan to work together to gather a scroll for each of them to pass this section. Souta would typically charge down swinging like a mad man at a squad of Genin and Kaien would take out those who tried to run and gather the scrolls. Together they managed to take out seven Genin squads, eventually gathering the scrolls they needed and heading to the finish point.
Kaien and Souta would separate at this point, but it would not be the last time Kaien would see “The Oni of the Mist”. During the third stage of the Chunnin exams Kaien would observe his prior allies fight seeing the same savagery that he had shown in the previous stage. When it was Kaien’s turn he dropped over the rail and walked to the center, he looked over at a stocky Konoha nin. Kaien took out his make shift claws, and as the fight started he jumped back dodging the man first attack then deflecting the Kunai he threw. Standing back up Kaien glared at the man, in his eyes the Konoha nin saw death, carnage, Kaien had activated the only true jutsu he had learned, “Killer Intent”. In his eyes the man saw his own death, and Kaien planed to make it a reality. The man saw Kaien rushing in and slashing his stomach open. As Kaien charged him he forfeited, tears running down his face, Kaien continued forwards, the coward wasn’t getting away. As he brought back his arm the stab him, he felt the ground suddenly get closer, then slamming down. Seems someone Jounin instructor was stopping the fight, Kaien looked over at the man, he was from Sand, he had no grudge with this man, so he picked himself up and returned to his spot on the rail to watch the rest of the fights.
After the rest of the fighters finished Kaien was given one month to rest and prepare for the final match. Kaien spent most of this time relaxing and taking in the sites, rather than training. He would wondering around the city, watching the students train at the academy, even getting permission to sit in on a few of the classes. As the month came to an end Kaien spent the last week watching his competition train, being able to move without being able to be detected. The most interesting was a Nara from Konoha, he was said to be the shoe in this year, and his abilities were above that of a Genin. Kaien took special interest in learning his skills, watching how every move worked.
As the day arrived fireworks went off though out the town, the people began filing into the stadium. As people gathered to watch the fight Kaien stood at the end of a flagpole over hanging the stadium center, he was ready and wasn’t going to give up no matter whom he was up against. A loud announcement asked for all Genin participating to meet at the center of the ring, as they began to file in Kaien dropped down and began walking along side everyone else. As they introduced everyone Kaien looked around, it was surprising how many people had shown up for an event that happened every year. As the announcer finished they announced the matches, Kaien didn’t even notice them call his name, he was more engrossed in what was going on outside the ring, Chunnin, Genin, Jounin, even Kage’s had gathered.
As all the fighters left the ring Kaien went to follow everyone, but was stopped by the proctor, and was informed he was in the first match. Kaien nodded then looked back seeing the Nara he was observing before. The proctor shouted out to the crowd, “This will be our first fight, Ika Nara vs. Kaien Hoshi, The Flaming Shadow vs. The Fox of the Falls.” Kaien seemed confused by his name but was prepared for anything as the proctor’s arm dropped singling the start of the fight. The Nara’s shadow shot across the ground towards Kaien’s feet, he jumped back dodging it, then again to the side as the shadow chased him across the arena, he had to keep from getting hit by that shadow. As he bounced around the arena he saw a slight advantage, he jumped up hitting the wall and looked down at the Nara, whose Shadow started to climb behind him. Kaien then bounced from the wall, flying over the Nara, tossing several Kunai at him. Jumping to the side Ika’s shadow broke, Kaien then started his attack, he took out his make shift claws and rushing in, moving faster than most could see. A slight nick here, a minor cut there. Kaien was slicing the Nara down slowly, not allowing his shadow to even get close. The Nara become engrossed in rage, trying to catch Kaien seemed to be all but impossible for him. Kaien then dropped back. He waved, and nodded to the man, who was very confused. He then tossed a Kunai at the wall he was at before, which cut a thread of wire, as the wire snapped, the hissing noise of it sliding along the branch above Ika could be heard through out the arena. Kaien had tied it to a large fallen branch and pulled it up, when the line was cut it applied weight to the wire he had been slowly wrapping Ika in. The wire rapidly tightened, the man’s screams canceling out the crash from the branch hitting the ground. The proctor announced him the winner by KO and Kaien was allowed to leave the arena. Kaien would watch the final matches, and wait to hear how he did.
When the results were announced, three people were announced to have passed, Souta, One of the Sand Konoichi he had given his scroll to, and himself. He was somewhat surprised but at the same time he knew he was far above the level of most the people here. As he went to leave Konoha to return home after the events that had unfolded he was approached by an odd looking man, he told Kaien if he ever seeked true power to search him out, his name was Orchimaru. Kaien left Konoha rather confused after that.
Returns to Land Of Falls
From the moment he returned to his village Kaien began vigorous training, hopping to raise through the ranks faster and become an even more well know shinobi. His goal was to create a Jutsu all his own, something that focused on his natural talent and abilities. From this training would create Kaze Sochi, his wind walking jutsu. Along with actually getting a pair of claws and training with those Kaien slowly grew more powerful as a Ninja.
Kaien would never be reassigned to a squad instead he was told his skills were more honed for working along, since that is what he had been doing this whole time. They formed him thought missions, slowly making him into the perfect assassin, silent, cold and heartless. Kaien would grow further and further from the rest of his ninja community, becoming somewhat of an outcast among his own people.
As the years past his claw and wind speciation would lead to a few other jutsu that assisted with his missions, Hein being a major one, allowing him to slice through walls about three feet in thickness. His speed would be the main physical trait he would raise slowly being able to vanish from site without the use of his Kaze Sochi.
Thought out his years of completing missions for his country Kaien would be promoted to Jounin, but never get any Genin assigned to him, thinking he would lead them to their deaths. He would simply follow the same life he had been leading, never getting a chance to change it.
Leaves Falls
Kaien would eventually grow tired of his constant life style, never changing always sent away to kill someone his Kage feared. He became feared by the people of his country, thinking that one day he may rise against them, his power became something more of legend, growing out of control. Until one day, he was ordered to kill a Konoichi from Sand, she apparently was ordered to keep on eye on his Kage to prevent the formation of a plan of war. Kaien would slowly approach the women, she not hearing him. Kaien dropped behind her, and looked, the Konoichi that had passed the Chunnin exams with him. Kaien would inform the woman of the assassination attempt on her, in writing of course. She would quickly flee the country and return home, that day Kaien decided to leave the land of the falls and search out the one man who promised him true power, Orchimaru.
Contact with Orchimaru
Kaien would eventually through connections he had formed before leaving his country find the location to Orchimaru’s hide out. He would end up breaking in and wondering around the underground maze for hours. Eventually the hall would poor out in front of the man he was looking for. Orchimaru. He would stand as the man walked up to him, he was concerned this man was one of legendary sannin, he stood no chance if he decided to attack. Orchimaru would question the man’s presence and after a very long process Kaien would be accepted into his ranks, working his way up from the bottom.
After a short time there Orchimaru would begin to fall into the habit of using Kaien for his very particular talents. Sending him into countries to retrieve information or bring him back a new “recruit” as they slowly became known as. Kaien didn’t mind, he was promised power with time, so until that day he would take his orders and due as he was told.
After about a year of working for Orchimaru Kaien would be paired up with an old “friend” I guess you could call him, Souta, or as he was called now “Oni”. It seemed that Souta kept killing everyone he was paried with for missions and Orchimaru was growing tired of it, so he sent Kaien with him, or now called “Fox” and if he were to misbehave he was to take him out. Kaien would no see the point whenever Souta would swing he would easily dodge the attack, a lot of power with little accuracy.
From that point Kaien and Souta would be paried for the next seven years, training together and working together. The only two-man squad in the village, it was for the best though, typically when people tagged along they didn’t come back. Within these seven years Kaien grew more and more powerful, fast and faster, soon able to rival any ninja’s speed. After their years of service to Orchimaru he would give them something of a gift, “Curse Seals,” the power Kaien had been waiting for. The seal would grant him increased speed and chakra, but also alter his physical form, giving him a fox tail and ears, also altering his fangs. He would spend another 4 years under Orchimaru perfecting the new curse seal with Souta.
Moving on
Kaien would grow tired of Orchimaru doing the same thing his last leader did, he did nothing but get sent to kill constantly. Kaien feeling that he had learned all that he need from Orchimaru left sound, and went off alone, or so he thought. Seemed Souta decided he was done as well and the two of them have been together since then. They have slowly become more and more well known thought out the Shinobi world, know as “Bash and Slash”, Or more often, “Oni of the Mist and The Fox Of the Falls”.
Character's Personality: (Very brief just to cover a few things)
Kaien’s biggest personality issue is that he does not speak, only on very rare occasion. But due to this not a whole lot comes off through verbal communication like most others instead Kaien communicated through shrugs and nods and often time gets misconstrued as some type of insult. Kaien is a very clam and intelligent man, understand most things only after seeing them once, with the ability to figure attack patterns out only after minutes of a fight.
The mask is a visual representation of the blankness that he feels, the emptiness of his soul. Kaien walks with death; he does not fear it but embraces it, waiting for it. The mask is worn to keep his enemy from seeing the pain and anguish on his face.
The largest psychological problem Kaien has is fighting without his mask, he is unable to fight without his face covered. It comes from years of the mask hiding his feeling and emotions from his target during a battle. Due to this Kaien has developed somewhat of spilt personalities, the masked “Fox Of The Falls” and Kaien Hoshi.
Without his mask Kaien is very kind and people are typically drawn to him, he is just a fun loving individual. He doesn’t come off as someone who could have taken a life merely hours before. Also the major difference is without his mask, or face covered Kaien is willing to speak, showing that he is not a mute but rather chooses not to talk.
With the mask he is silent, cold and distant. He has no wish to deal with people is much more content being alone. He is more often then not wearing it, only removing it for special occasions.
Kaien has several rules that he follows with every mission he is part of:

A silhouette of a man sits in a cell; his face hung low, his arms hanging in front of him. His hair hanging around his face, he drops back and lays flat on his cot, a smile creeps across his face, he lifts his left arm and looks at his watch, “One hour” he says to himself as he sets the alarm to sound at midnight and he closes his eyes. He brings up his right arm, red and orange steal coat it, he rests it under his head. Dressing in a black T-shirt and blue jeans the man lays quietly on the bed and begins to fall asleep, sounds come from the other cells, some of tears, others anger.
“Beep, Beep, Beep!” the alarm sounds on the watch, the mans eyes fight at first then open, he looks at the watch, and hits the button on the side turning off the alarm, he shifts himself and sits up. Then rising to his feet he walks over to the cell door, it is a solid steal door with a small barred window, he pears out of the window seeing five men walking the halls, a small voice comes from the cell next to him, “Converts”, it is a small girl, no older than thirteen, she has long brown hair pulled back into a pony tail, wearing a soccer uniform, “They are all strength users,” her voice whispered as one of the men than slammed on her cell, causing her to start crying again.
“Hey buddy, you feel big picking on a little girl?” The man in the cell said, “Guess being someone’s bitch means your pretty pathetic” The smile came across the man in the cells face. He began tapping his metal hand on the cell just trying to get the man on the other side of the door to start something.
The man grabbed the chat off the door, “Kuro Boushi, one armed armor user” he laughed He grabbed the door and ripped it from the wall, “I am going to crush that pretty little mouth of yours!” he said as he charged into the room.
“Oh you think I am pretty?” Kuro said with a laugh dropping down sending the man flipping over him and landing on the bed, he smiled and began to bounce like a boxer, “Come on put ‘em up,” he said as he whipped his nose with his hand.
The man got back up and tackled Kuro sending him slamming into the wall, Kuro released a gasp as they hit, then the smile returned as he brought the elbow of his right arm down on the man’s back causing him to black out in an instant. Kuro looked around, it seemed that the other men had been checking the other cells, but they had probably heard the noise, “Stand back” he said to the girl as he grabbed the handle and ripped the door open, “Come on lets get you out of here.” He said as he grabbed her and tossed her on his back and began to run.
After taking a few steps he stopped, and sighed, “Wait one second,” he said placing her down, and then began opening all the doors in the hall, power users began filling the hallway, “Alright everyone Go, get out of here quick.” He said as they all began to run through the hall.
As the group ran down the halls, the other four men soon caught up to them, they were gaining quick. Kuro put the little girl down and turned to face the men, “Go get out of here I will slow them down.” He said pointing at the exit.
The girl yelled, “Your crazy they will kill you.” She said, “They aren’t just going to lock you up, they are going to kill you and use your body for experiments.” She looked up at him.
Kuro turned his head, “You haven’t seen Crazy yet.” He said, and then slammed his right hand into the wall, ripping out a large metal pole, “Now go!” he shouted at her.
There was a long pause, the someone from the group looked, “IS THAT THE SUPPORT BEAM TO THE BUILDING!?!?!” he shouted then grabbed the little girl and began pulling her out of the exit.
Kuro smiled, and then ran towards guards, “You want a piece of me do ya?” he said tackling one of them, then being grabbed and slammed into the wall, “Ouch, I take it you want to whole thing,” he gasped for air, as one of the men held him while one of the others began punching him, he began grunting as the hits landed, each stronger than the last. As the man hitting him pulled his arm back all the way, and threw his punch Kuro bounced up and rolled over the man holding him and shoved him forward into the punch. The man then gasped and collapsed in pain, the two more came from behind him, grabbing his arms, while the other one ran at him, Kuro lifted his weight and kicked the man in the jaw causing him to flip back and land on his head knocking him out. The two men began pulling on Kuro trying to rip him in two, “Ouch,” he said as his muscles began to tear, he joints began to pop, “Alright you know what” Kuro said then a load ping echoed threw the hall.
At first they thought Kuro had broken then a bolt fell form the ceiling, “Oh this isn’t going to be good,” Kuro said with a bit of a whimper, another bolt then a sheet of steal fell. The ceiling began falling, and then all at once the building came crashing down.
The people Kuro had saved had just gotten outside as the building fell, “That moron could have crushed us all.” One of the members of the group said, “That moron saved all of us from death, so you best not talk bad about him.” The little girl sat in front of the collapsed building; she looked at the rubble, “Thank you.” She said with a small tear.
A small “No…..Problem” came from the pile, the rubble began moving as Kuro slowly stood up, holding a large sheet of steel on his back, as he tossed it off, he revealing the other guards under it with him. He stood up and cracked his neck, “That was to close,” he smiled and looked at the group, “Alright everyone get out of here before anyone shows up and catches you all again.
One of the men from the group lit his hand a blaze, “What about them?” he said, “I say we touch them from putting us threw that hell!” he shouted some of the group agreed, “Ya kill them, they would have done it to us,” a women said, “Without a second thought” a voice from the back said.
Kuro stood still in front of the men, “I will restrain them, and make sure they are held but they will not be harmed any more then they already are.” He smiled at the group, “Now you best get going, go see you families and loved one,” he shoed them with his hand, “Go on get.” He said.
He grabbed large beams of steel, then activated his armor across both of his arms, and began bending the steel around the men, holding them in place, “Now I hope you have learned something today,” he smiled and walked over to the little girl who was waiting for him, “Alright lets get you back to your parents like I promised. He lifted the girl up placing her on his back and began walking toward the sunset.
A small voice came from his back, “I live that way.” She said and pointed the other direction. Kuro turned around and began walking, “I knew that…” he said, “I was, um testing you,” he laughed.
