Arina let her leg dangle lazily down from the tree branch she sat on. Her huge dog lay on the ground beneath her, sleeping. It wasn't like she had anything pressing to do, or for that matter wanted to do right now. Not like anyone would come looking for her at present either. She wasn't in the buisness of distinguishing herself, in any manner she could avoid at any rate. Books and shadows were her domain, and she was as content as anyone with her additude could be in that situation. You learned very interesting things in the shadows. Gossip mostly, but still very interesting. As much as she acted solely like herself, she was still a girl, and girls by nature like gossip. She herself preferred books, but gossip was nice.
Reminding herself, she reached into her pack and pulled out one of her books and smiled at it fondly. Fantasy books were the only frivolous thing she allowed in herself when she was alone, because frivolty lead to looking weak and looking weak lead to persecution in one form or another. Arina opened it, she knew most of her books so well that she could start at any page and immediately pick up the story. She read for a couple of pages before her mind drifted back to her weakness thought.
She shoved that thought away fiercely. With a slight tremor, she put her book back and drew one of her daggers. Her small frame and looks usually made people think she was weak. After seeing one of these, what they could do, that vanished to some or another extent. It was sharp of course, but she handled it almost carelessly. It had been years since she had cut herself, and even if she did she had the antidote in her pocket. She stuffed the dagger away and whistled. Her big old dog predictably did nothing.
Arina smiled fondly at her pet, then jumped neatly down and nudged him with her foot. "Daisuke...Daisuke..." she crooned softly, "Come on now. Let's walk for awhile." The dog opened one eye and gave her a baleful look. "Come on dear," she coaxed, "You need the exercise." She poked him. "You're getting a little bigger around the middle than is prudent dear, and that's pretty big." The old dog obediantly got up and licked her hand a little. She smiled and started walking, with the big guy following behind her.

The fifteen year-old Hyuuga heiress had been out for a walk, her hands shoved indifferently into her coat pockets. She was getting better. She knew she was. But then... Well... her pale features mimicked those of a tomato as she recalled this afternoon. She hadn't even been able to speak to him! There he was, standing in all his orange-clad glory, and there she was as usual. Hiding. Hinata let out a soft sigh as she recalled many things. She was a better Shinobi now, yes, that was true. But even the thought of him caused her to blush! Shaking her head determinedly, Hinata would continue to walk along the quiet road. How would she be able to handle the pressures of her Shinobi lifestyle if she couldn't... even... face...
Oh?
Hinata snapped out of her silent revelry, her colorless eyes finding the figure of a young girl and a particularly hefty dog lumbering up the path. As they would pass, a sweet smile would make its way upon her visage as she lowered her head to the other. If the girl wished to speak to her, Hinata would of course stop, but she didn't feel like she should make conversation on her own.

Hmm. She smiled back at the girl, until something clicked in her head. Arina considered simply leaving, remaining anonymous, a nameless face forgotten seconds later, but for some reason decided against it.
"Hyuuga Hinata?" she said aloud. Arina hadn't had much contact with anyone, being more prone to staying on the sidelines and avoiding emotional injury. She regretted speaking, and more regretted moving. Life was much easier when you were part of the background, albeit much lonelier.
She stopped, and Daisuke sat down patiently, apparently deciding this was a good a time as any for a rest. She patted his head absentmindedly and thought over again why she had spoken. From her experience, Hinata wasn't the strongest kunoichi and was least likely to be messing with her for one reason or another. Contrary to her statement, she knew Hinata's name quite well along with most other ninja in the village, but having hidden like she did most people did not know her. It unnerved most people to be known by people they themselves did not know, so Arina had phrased it as a question. She kept her face a small, polite smile with her actual personality separate and marveling that she had spoken at all. Daisuke woofed quietly and nudged her.

Hinata would pause and turn to face the stranger. She hadn't really expected to be addressed, so her greeting was slightly detained. "Ah- Hai!" She says with a nod of her head. "G-good afternoon." Noting how her hands were folded before her chest, she let them drop to her sides. Initial shock over, she realized how idiotic she must look in the pose of some reminiscent, love-struck... oh wait... she was that, wasn't she? Smiling, the Hyuuga heiress would ask softly, "Ah... was there something you needed?" Unconsciously, her hands found themselves again as they hung. Well, at least the position wasn't... quite so awkward? Hinata would look to the other, her mind already brought down to the conversation. Her demeanor was rather soft and unimposing, which would be quite odd for a Shinobi, wouldn't it? It could be assumed those who lived in Konoha would have gotten used to that fact, this girl included. For a brief moment, Hinata's colorless eyes would drift to the rather large canine that accompanied this person. She couldn't help but smile once more at its action, the dog itself reminding her of Akamaru. The way it nudged at the girl and sat beside her was rather adorable!

She ignored the slight fumbling, thinking that her presence would most likely unnerve anyone. Arina was slightly surprised at her response, but not overly so and she recovered almost instantly. Of course she'd ask that, it was rare that Arina spoke to anyone on the off chance that she recognized her and if she hadn't it was worse, she'd probably be wondering why this random girl spoke to her. She mentally berated herself for speaking at all. 'You've been alone all this time and it's never bothered you,' she scolded, 'Why make an issue of it now?!'
She was an expert. All this inner arguing took about half a second and she didn't change expression at all. "No, nothing. I'm sorry if I disturbed you, I just wanted to make sure I got the name right." 'Not volunteering any real information, mind, not unless she asks for it,' she mentally noted. She noticed the girl's glance stray to Daisuke and smiled. "Don't worry about him, he's very well behaved." She frowned. "Or he's just lazy. I've never been able to decide."

Hinata nods, her expression only slightly befuddled at the girl's odd response. A sweet laugh made its way past her lips at her comment about her lovable fluffy friend. "Oh, I'm not worried," She assures the girl. "Actually, my friend cares for a dog as well, and this one reminds me of him." With a slight blush upon her cheeks, she would bow her head politely. "Well... ano... it was nice to see you, then. Have a pleasant walk," She nods toward Daisuke, "And you as well." Bowing her head one more times, her hands placed upon her thighs, Hinata would turn and continue to stroll if she were not interrupted. The air felt so fresh against her skin and the day was so crisp and pleasant! She liked all of the seasons, but she thought of Autumn as a particularly refreshing one. While Spring was bright and bold, summer was relaxed and lazy and winter was soothing and joyous, she found Autumn so rejuvenating! Smiling slightly at her childish notions, she would continue along the path, her white hues drifting with the clouds.

Arina nodded, not surprised at the response. 'It's like speaking to a ghost,' she thought wryly and somewhat unhappily. 'You have no idea what to say because you're too busy worrying about what they're doing there. Ghosts aren't supposed to exist, and neither are the people on the fringes.' This train of thought didn't bother her any, her having long ago come to the conclusion that she was some sort of mistake.
"Goodbye then," she said to the retreating back, "Sorry to have bothered you, again." Daisuke woofed dutifully and yawned. Suddenly she was once again disgusted with herself and her situation. She needed to move, to go someplace and do something with an actual purpose. Genins got stupid missions, but it was better than nothing. She motioned at Daisuke, who got up and trotted after her happily.

Hinata's actions would be done in correlation with Lenai's brief responses. Seeing such, she would be on her way as well with a small, "It was no bother at all," Issued from her lips. She figured she might as well head home. At the moment, Hinata was craving tea and she might get a bit of training in before everyone gathered for dinner. With these optimistic thoughts in her mind, Hinata traversed the dusty road. Clear white hues would silently greet anyone she passed who happened to catch her eye, for though she was a sweet-natured person, she still didn't make conversation that easily. Even in her teenage years she was somewhat awkward in a social manner of speaking.
Finally, her eyes took their fill of the Hyuuga Manor. Smiling gently, the heiress passed beneath the archway to come upon the courtyard. She usually used this area for training when she was home, though secretly, she found it a bit unnerving to be able to be seen from the streets. Her pale hand found the small niche in the sliding door which one could use to pull it back. Doing so, Hinata entered the abode of her family and their ancestors to make for herself a cup of tea before training ensued.
